Overall Satisfaction with RingEX
RingEX is our "go to" for VOIP and video meetings in our organization. It's allowed us to streamline the way we communicate and given users many options to do so - physical IP phone, desktop app, mobile app and even a browser-based version. Our faculty and staff can decide what fits their needs the best and use it.
- VOIP calling - call quality is excellent and has replaced our traditional landline phones
- Video meetings - video quality is great(provided you have a good webcam) and the video features(multiple hosts, screen sharing, multiple room management) is 2nd to none.
- Screen sharing - As an unexpected benefit, the ability to do a screen share has helped our IT crew in being able to remotely diagnose and fix problems with faculty or staff machines.
- The desktop app updates are somewhat annoying. It seems the desktop app will randomly close and restart when there is a new version pushed out by RingEX. Not a huge deal but it is sometimes annoying to be reading an instant message on the app and it will close/restart without warning.
- I'd like to see the mobile app have an easier way to be offline than logging out of the app entirely. I may want to be able to message using the chat feature but just not accept phone calls. Or have my phone calls go to my desk phone or desktop app but not ring my mobile app in certain situations.
- While not necessarily a "cheap" solution, it has definitely reduced the number of hours spent maintaining/configuring a traditional on-site PBX system.
- Being cloud based means that the system is highly available and adaptable. You can literally log into your phone from anywhere in the world and take calls as if you are sitting in your home office.
- Time savings in getting people directed to the correct office have been huge. We no longer have to have a list of offices or memorize frequently called offices since we can easily look up and transfer callers in the app. As soon as you start typing a few letters of the person's name, their extension is on screen and available for transfer.
- Having RingEX installed on every computer means that we have a way to remotely troubleshoot issues with our users when they are not physically on campus. This has saved hundreds of hours by not needing the end-user to download/install a remote help app.
Call analytics need to be mentioned in any review. Having insight into how users are actually using the service we pay for has been huge. It's also given us more information as to why a call or video conference has issues. Until RingEX we had no way to tell if it was a random network issue or a legitimate problem but the in-depth analytics can show CPU usage, connection type(wifi or wired), signal strength, etc to help us troubleshoot issues that users claim to experience.

We ultimately chose to go with RingEX because of their unified interface. At the time that we purchased their service, there wasn't another software that did exactly what RingEX does.
