Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor
SolarWinds NPM currently monitors our internet connections and links between major systems. Many times we are alerted to an issue before our carriers even know there is an issue. It also monitors our servers with historical statistics that have allowed us to forecast our storage needs as well as troubleshoot system performance issues caused by applications like queries and scheduled tasks.
- The reporting tools can provide a wealth of transparency, especially for management. The ability to have all the reports I need in my inbox first thing in the morning is invaluable.
- The customized dashboard is particularly useful for the various roles that our users have. This includes everyone from our system administrators that needs stats on servers to managers that need to see at a high level how the environment is performing.
- Consolidated logging from multiple environments is a great feature as well. Whether it from legacy systems that do not support email alerting to appliances in other time zones, a central place to troubleshoot an enterprise-wide issue where you don't have to constantly recalculate time offsets is a huge bonus.
- NPM also allows for customized alerting with just about any technology that is available.
- I would like to see a component that can capture real-time data from an interface and write a database or even a file for short term diagnostics.
- NPM overall has been on best ROI that we have in our toolkit. We have been able to go back to an application vendor and troubleshoot their application and save many hours of diagnostic analysis.
NPM stands out above the other products if seen, specifically in the flow of the tools and customizability.
