Overall Satisfaction with Teachable

At our organization we often receive applicants who think what we do is easy, but it's harder than what people think, so we decided to launch courses about it. We sell transcription courses through Teachable. Right now we have 10 courses and are looking to create and sell more. It's a good place to host our lectures, both text and videos. We have lots and lots of students using the platform right now.
  • Organizing the content into sections and lectures.
  • Uploading the content.
  • Navigating in the back office.
  • Ability to add bundle courses.
  • When a student enrolls in a course, the default setting is to be "opted out of emails" which a lot of people oversee and don't deactivate. This makes it harder for us to communicate to the students through the platform, we have to do it outside the platform.
  • The back office is hard to navigate when you are starting out, it gets ovewhelming, but you get to use to it after a while.
  • When I have an issue, support doesn't answer right away. It could take a day before I hear from them.
Teachable is great for having content stored online and available so students can use it at their own pace, at any time. It's very user friendly. I would highly recommend it. The cost is also afordable, so that's always a good bullet point. If someone needs to be more in contact with their students, then I don't think this is the best option, unless something like a webinar or a forum could be implemented.

Overall Satisfaction Continued

  • Managed student volume.
  • Managed organized my content very well.
The platform is more atractive than others. This one has more features and allows more control over your students. Plus is cheaper in the long run.

Using Teachable

3 - The departments that use Teachable are:
-Billing
-Administrative
-Teacher/Tutor

The billing depart check payments every month.
Administratives check if there are any issues with a student.
Teacher/Tutors are the ones that use it the most. They create the content, upload it, revise/modify it and make sure there's no issues and that the courses are organic and follow a logical order.
1 - There's one teacher that knows Teachable funcionality to the core. Even if that person can't find a solution, their support system is always eager to help, although sometimes it could take up to a day to get an answer from them.
  • Storing courses.
  • Gather all the content.
  • Organizing content into lectures.
  • We've been able to sale bundle courses, combining them without having to duplicate.
  • We can sell through the platform itself AND outside of it, augmenting our sales.
  • Organizing the content is very easy, this allows us to modify a course in very few steps.
  • We might use their mailing system in the future if some changes are made.
  • We could create more courses and bundles.
  • We could sell more courses through the platform, if the commissions were lower.
Because we haven't had any major issues with it. The platform is really simple to use and the content can be uploaded and modified very easily. It has a drag and drop feature that makes everything fast and easy.
Their support has always answered our questions or concerns and the cost is affodable. We will keep using it in the future.

Evaluating Teachable and Competitors

  • Cloud Solutions
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
When we first started using Teachable we thought the Cloud Solution issue was gonna be the most important factor, but then we realized that the Ease of Use is Teachable's strongest point. It allows you to organize content into lectures, upload, delete, change, etc, very easily. It doesn't take up too much time to make a change in the content, and that's a very big plus.
I think we would still pick Teachable. Is very hard to know the internal functionality of a platform without seeing it work, but we are very pleased with the way this platform has solved our needs and we will continue to use in the future. We did consider other three platforms but we are glad we decided on this one.

Teachable Implementation

I'd say: learn the system first, try it out and then publish the content with customers. There are a couple of features that will cause issues with customers (especially lazy ones) but I'd say it's easy to implement and modify if needed. People don't need to train much to use Teachable, but they should take their time to know it.
Not sure - I didn't think we learned anything when we implemented.
  • Not setting up the courses correctly.
  • Not contemplating that people don't always read and take the courses seriously, so they skip things.
  • Not knowing the system entirely.

Teachable Training

Yes, it was easy to use without training. The first time you use it has some pop ups explaining little things and they are very helpful. But the product is very intuitive and doesn't need much training.

Configuring Teachable

I think it's just right for this the type of product.
Nothing to add. It's very easy to set up. Maybe some of the integrations should be used by an IT guy, other than that, it's easy to use.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - We wanted to add our logo and our company colors. It was really easy to do.
Yes - we have added extensive custom code - At times we've added forms from Wufoo, and we've added to the lectures by inserting a custom code. Just created the form in Wufoo, copied the html code and paste it in a custom code field.
Can't think of anything else.

Teachable Support

Their support is good overal. There are a couple of things that I would change, like answering faster. Sometimes they take a day to answer a concern and that's kind of annoying considering sometimes there are urgent issues we have to deal with.
But the support has been good, they have answered properly.
ProsCons
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
Kept well informed
No escalation required
Support understands my problem
Support cares about my success
Slow Resolution
Difficult to get immediate help
Slow Initial Response
No, we didn't. We have standard support. We didn't think we needed premium. I'm not sure if they offer it though.
I don't know if it's been exceptional. They've answered simple and more difficult questions.

Using Teachable

Because it's easier to use both as administrators and both as user. We have never heard of any users having issues login in or going through the lectures or completing the course.

Teachable Reliability

We haven't had any issues with it. Their maintanance hours are always at times when we don't have students there, and even then, they still can access the platform.
We haven't had any issues, it's always available. Even when they schedule a maintanance on their end, students still can access the courses.
Never had any issues with pages or videos not loading.

Integrating Teachable

It has the ability to integrate codes and other formats.
  • Wufoo
  • Pdfs readers
  • images and videos
  • Mailchimp
I don't know about depth, but what we've integrated was easy to achieve.
  • Not at the time.
Not at this time.
  • File import/export
  • API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
  • Javascript widgets
Can't think of anything else.
Most integrations are easy to use, they don't require any special training, anyone can do it.

Relationship with Teachable

Didn't use any vendor. We purchased directly.

All the implementation process was fast and easy.
Didn't negotiate terms. We purchased directly.
We wouldn't change anything. Everything seemed fine when we purchased.
