Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
As some of my customers use Veeam Backup & Replication, I wanted to test myself. So I decided to give the community edition a try to backup both of my clients (notebook and PC). As I am the only staff, this is all that has to be done. I like the fact that it is a "set it and forget it" software and does not need any attention.
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- Virtualized workloads
- None of the above
- None of the above
- Automatic backup for clients.
- Set it and forget it, no attention needed.
- Free consumer edition to give the whole thing a try without remorse.
- Not easy to find on the homepage.
- It's very hard to find prices, which is a big deterrent to me as a buyer.
- High barrier to entry for prices for very small companies. I'd rather pay than use the free option, but it's prohibitively expensive for me as a 1-person company.
There are 2 clients: one notebook and one PC. I do not back up my servers with Veeam Backup & Replication as there are only 2 of them (one hardware server and 1 virtualized Windows machine in Hyper-V) and there is no possibility to buy only 2 licenses, so I use another free tool for them.
- Not much so far as there are only 2 PCs.
- At this time I can say I have a better feeling because my clients are backed up. I can probably say more in the future.
We experienced a major data loss due to an encryption Trojan at a customer's site and wanted to make sure that something like that didn't happen to me one day. So I decided to use backup software although my PCs are not critical and I could get over the loss of a PC without any problems. Bit it's better to be safe and have a good feeling when storing data.
I do not use cloud workloads so there is no need to try these features. As soon as I encounter the need to use e.g. Azure or AWS resources, they will be secured with a Veeam backup.
