Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

A couple of years ago, we had a natural disaster happen very close to the station. This raised the risk of total destruction for all information that we have here. With Veeam Data Platform, we can replicate and rebuild our systems when needed. This has been a breather for my part without the risk that one day, I can come to the station and everything is gone. The GUI is rather intuitive and does not require a large amount of knowledge to start backing up right away. We use Backblaze and the integration with Veeam Data Platform has made the work seamless.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Accessing data for data mining or re-use of backup copies via API
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
  • Organizes and works well with backing up certain drives.
  • SQL backup makes it much easier than backing up a whole server.
  • Integration of auto-update or upgrading.

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

We currently have seven Servers backed up with Veeam. This does include a mix of VMs and physical servers. We have a File Server that has individual drives backed up as well. I was actually surprised by how much was not needed to be backed up. I was expecting much more data.
A couple of things made our mind to going to Veeam Data Platform. One, our head company advised us to move to Veeam Data Platform as was most of the company. Two, we had a Natural Disaster Scare that almost made an impact on the station. Three, we were losing our old source of backups and needed a refreshing option that allowed us to visually see what we were backing up.
We currently have a dedicated VM that we use and we have not made use of the cloud workload.
Pretty much any large or medium sized entity that requires the use of multiple servers, computers, and crucial information. Backed by a B2 Bucket system like Backblaze, you can be fully integrated with local storage via a NAS and cloud redundancy. We do not currently do it, but there is the option to backup personnel computers in case of information lose.
