Overall Satisfaction with Viewpoint Vista

Vista is our company ERP and has been since 2008. We use Vista for all our accounting and payroll needs. We also integrate with it for our service management software and for our in-house developed project management app.
  • Calculation of job cost and revenue.
  • Processing of payroll and payroll taxes
  • Ability to add new fields to forms and database that don't already exist
  • As with any complex program, there are a lot of moving pieces, so it is complex to set up or alter.
  • Job and Phase mask must be set up on installation, and apply to all companies within the system. (We added a new division that needed different numbering mask, but it wasn't an option)
  • Can take a while for bugs found in releases to be resolved.
  • Provides greater visibility to the profitability of different divisions or industries
Vista works well for integrating our accounting processes, but we find that it is not suited to our project management side. We have developed our own app that integrates with Vista to handle that side of our business. We need an app that is less complex for use in the field yet still provides the necessary data for project management.
Vista, at the end of the day, is our source of truth for all number driven data. We depend on those numbers for all reporting, including in PowerBI. It is the basis for or business decisions most of the time.

Yes

The ability to customize the software by adding fields, dropdowns, forms, tables, and custom reports is extensive. However, having Viewpoint provide support or assist in setting these up can be expensive. We do most of this in house, since we are familiar with Vista and have IT who have supported the product for 15 years.
