Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Authpoint is used for 2FA for users connecting to the organization via VPN. The product adds a second layer for the login/authentication process for users, increasing security and reducing the risk associated with users who are phished for their credentials. These days, we try to ensure 2FA is done for any authentication that grants access to internal resources.

We selected Authpoint as we already had WatchGuard security appliances in use at our organization. We also began to evaluate the product based on a recommendation from our MSP. They have several customers that use Authpoint, so it was recommended. It was also nice that they had experience rolling out the product.

Authpoint is well suited to an environment where you currently have WatchGuard firewalls in place and use Active Directory. When the world changed and we had many users working remotely from home, it was a no-brainer to add Authpoint to our existing WatchGuard infrastructure. As we continue to have some of the workforce work from home, it helps us sleep better at night.
