1ShoppingCart

It's really user preference. Some people have been told by other colleagues that it's a great system to use so they want to go with that. There are other systems that do exactly the same thing. I have not found that 1ShoppingCart has any unique features that would lead me to persuade a client to use it over another one. I usually have clients look at two or three options and give feedback. Sometimes it comes down to monthly prices.

Pros

  • Email broadcasts are super easy with 1ShoppingCart
  • Affiliate set up and management is easy

  • Amazingly flexible APIs to support every use case we have come across.
  • Quick customer service, particularly technical and with respect to fees.
  • It feels like they are always a step or two ahead of the capabilities that we need. We have confidence they'll continue to stay ahead of our needs, whihc makes for an ideal partner.
  • They handle and store all of the payment information, so that we have much lower compliance risk.

Cons

  • The UI needs improvement. There are other systems out there that are more intuitive.
  • Customizing/branding a shopping cart page can be a little tricky - when it should be very simple.

  • The fees are a bit high, particularly to distribute funds out (not collect) via ACH, which are higher than the market.
  • The online dashboard can be a bit confusing for reconciling transactions. It is much easier to store everything in our own database and reconcile internally rather than try to use their dashboard.

Likelihood to Renew

If I were in charge of the renewal decision I would really take a look at 1SC vs. Infusionsoft. There are many ways each are great and many ways they are different. I would look at what was best for my company and make the choice accordingly. I find that Infusionsoft has many more ways to intuitively market, segment and cultivate new leads and grow the business as a whole than 1SC currently has.

Alternatives Considered

Again, it's the client that usually selects the system they want to use. I think 1ShoppingCart has lower monthly payment options so that makes it more appealing. Infusionsoft has a $2k payment that must be made in order to use their product

We considered Paypal, Dwolla, and Sage Pay and had the most confidence in Stripe to meet our current and future needs. We actually built our platform to be able to support different payment providers for each customer, but all customers to date have ended up using Stripe, even if they weren't Stripe customers prior, given the strength of the Connect APIs. Their vast experience in powering two-sided marketplaces and their ability to support complex use cases is astounding and a true strength. It's possible the other platform have come along since we evaluated options in summer 2016, but as a customer it seems that Stripe's pace of innovation has accelerated recently

Return on Investment

  • Faster lead conversion, definitely

  • Compared to similar services, Stripe is about 50% easier to set up and learn. Training a new employee to use Stripe will save you several hours due to its excellent user interface.
  • With no monthly maintenance fees, Stripe only charges for what you use. There are no surprise fees, and the billing is transparent.
