It is perfect when sourcing through our system to find qualified candidates

Microsoft Project

Project is very well suited for large projects involving numerous personnel, equipment and materials, and expected to take many months or even years to completion. Also, it is useful when the stakeholders of the project are rather different in their capacity and require rather different types of reports (strictly financial reports, slippage in schedule and how the schedule can be brought back, etc.)On the other hand, a company specializing in projects that are relatively simple and only have a span of a few weeks or a couple of months would be better off adopting a simpler Project Management tool, one that costs less and has a much shorter learning curve.

Self-directed help is usually just frustrating. Help Desks don't seem to be knowledgeable enough to provide good answers. There doesn't appear to be a way to get immediate help without great expense.

Alternatives Considered

I've only used Salesforce before and am now using Conga ActionGrid. Although Salesforce is great, it is only used to log candidate information and then log actions that have been performed. With Conga ActionGrid, we are able to log more specific details about candidates, activities and follow up items. Conga ActionGrid provides more tools that would benefit many departments

At the end of the day, Microsoft Project still is best in class overall. It isn't as specialized as some tools like Trello or JIRA, but especially with new integration with Planner and native support for Agile project management templates it becomes a lot closer. Microsoft Project provides us all the right tools for the best price point without having to buy a whole lot of functionality that we won't utilize.

Return on Investment

  • It has benefited us positively, as I stated earlier- it allows us to filter down results of 65,000+ candidates to a search of 1-100 candidates.

  • Microsoft Project's price point is such that it represents a significant positive ROI when viewed with the vast professional functionality it contains
  • The different tiers of pricing for different resource access levels is immensely helpful in planning our OPEX and being able to right-size our spend for usage
