I've found multiple scenarios where Adobe Analytics (AA) is well suited. For example, the integration of AA with Optimizely. Instead of limiting our A/B test evaluation with the pre-set Optimizely metrics, I can use a checkbox within Optimizely Options to set an eVar that will integrate almost seamlessly. Within a few hours, I can collect data such as Orders (Participation), Profit (Participation) and Time Spent on Page (examples), which provides a more in-depth analysis of how successful one variation is compared to another.

1. We changed ship dates on individual product pages depending on customer location so they would have an accurate timeline for their orders. This really helped lower our volume of customer service calls on tracking orders.2. We have stores as well as an online presence. With Target we were able to advertise sales on b-stock items from our warehouse to our local customers without letting those that live outside a certain radius see the promo.3. If your marketing team doesn't have a tech background this software has a steep learning curve. There is quite a bit of manual configuration required. The image carousel is one example that we struggled with.

  • Custom implementation, which is not something you can easily get with Google Analytics, at least not the free version.
  • Ease to build custom reports, you just pick your metrics from any report and voilà.
  • Segments and metric breakdowns.

  • The test report page is very intuitive. It is very easy to analyze a test based on different segments such as new and returning users.
  • Having confidence levels inserted into the reporting tool is a key feature. While it is a simple feature, it allows users to easily understand when results are significant.
  • We have recently created swim lanes for traffic and this has been very helpful to make sure that different tests are not crossing over in terms of traffic.

  • Implementation is difficult - Both initial implementation as well as adding additional features. Adobe jobs implementation out to 3rd parties and I'm sure that a large part of the experience has to do with how well that 3rd party is at their job. Maybe this could be better controlled and made easier for clients by taking implementation back under the Adobe umbrella
  • Support is overseas and sometimes slow to respond - I've had issues with support really understanding my questions, often issues have to be escalated. Oftentimes it takes the full 24 hours to respond, not sure if this is because of time differences or what, but most other companies using overseas support agents seem to respond in a more timely fashion. Also, it is rare to have an issue resolved on first contact.
  • Context for the reports/metrics - It is easy to look at data but interpret it wrong because you aren't really looking at the right metrics or the right data points.

  • We struggle sometimes about which reporting tool to use with Target—either Target reporting or Adobe Analytics reporting. There are benefits for both but also reasons not to use one of the solutions.
  • Previewing when not using the Target reporting can be a challenge.

I have had many clients that are not thrilled with some aspects of the support. I think the actual day-to-day technical support (ClientCare) is great, but I have heard (and experienced) complaints about the the longer-term services (initial implementation, account management).

Myself and others have found the in-person training ok, but not outstanding. Trainers are good at explaining how to use the product features, but sometimes lack "real-world" experience on how to use the product as they are people who have often not previously been web analysts. There is also a shortcoming in company-provided training on advanced uses of the product. The implementation training is very good.

The instructor that came to train us was awesome and this training was very useful. I would recommend it for anyone who is going to be using this software. I only mark it lower because it is an added expense to an already expensive product, and a lot of the training covered the "Target" portion of the software (which again, we didn't use)

The online training for Adobe SiteCatalyst consists of short product videos. These are ok, but only go so far. For a while Adobe charged a fee for this, but recently made these available for free. There are many great blog posts that help users learn how to apply the product as well.

The training was very easy to understand, however it would have been more useful to my development team than me. It was also primarily over-the-phone, which is never as easy to follow as in-person. We ended up scheduling and paying for an in-person training session to supplement the online/phone training because it wasn't helpful enough.

We also use Google Analytics. I still use Google Analytics for evaluating Google Adwords, but use Adobe Analytics for most of my day to day analysis. We chose Adobe analytics because we were using some other Adobe products that this ties into nicely. We also wanted better ways to segment our traffic between our B2B and B2C and this gave us the flexibility we needed

I have used Optimizely for A/B testing. Optimizely makes it easier to set up almost any type of testing experiment. Optimizely is also strongly recommended for a limited number of users and when you want to optimize the cost. Optimizely was selected over Adobe Target since the start-up company had a limited budget to invest on A/B testing platform.

  • The program helps calculate risk. We have saved tens of thousands of dollars by avoiding planned campaigns which would have flopped. Using Adobe Analytics we were able to accurately predict ROI and adjust campaigns which could have been unsuccessful.
  • User segmenting and targeting-With the programs segmenting and targeting tools we have increased email conversions and grown our email list and web subscribers by over 100,000, collectively.
  • Program interface can is easy to use-While the program is extremely deep, it is structured so that begenner, novice, or experienced users can use the functions that they need without feeling overwhelmed. As a manager my productivity has increased substantially because our employees are able to navigate the program according to their job duties with less review and hand holding.
