One of best use cases for using OmniAccess Wire Access Point is where we have dense no. of users as client associated capacity is very good. Also one of the use case is when administrator wants different PSK for each user for authentication. OmniAccess WAP supports in better way.

Cisco Meraki MG smplifies the route to wireless WAN connectivity and makes cellular a really good uplink option for many networks. MG21 can be used best as gateway to cellular networks, by converting LTE signal from a cellular provider to an ethernet handoff, which can be used as an internet uplink for a variety of use-cases.

  • A DHCP configuration would be fine, but a fixed IP configuration seems to require a twist in the configuration.
  • If possible, it's just a subscription. With no initials and just a subscription, I think it's a "feature product" that may convince the superior even if the price is a bit high.
  • I am happy with wireless and all in one, but I feel that the management screen is old, so I think it is better to renew it a bit more.

Have used Cisco Meraki access point earlier having management on cloud and is on license (subscription basis). But Alcatel OmniAccess Points have management on cloud, on premise as well which means to say flexibility in terms of management. We had one requirement where we number of user is large which is going to connect on access point but Cisco Meraki only supports 200 users per radio whereas OmniAccess point have better client associated capacity with 524 per radio.

Although both products come from the same family, there are drastic differences between them. When it comes to the MX, it's all about security. It might not perform like the latter, but the security it provides is really good. It is a good enterprise WAN Solution, but still, the Meraki MG beats it in overall performance & ease of use. And the MX sadly doesn't support cellular connectivity.
