Useful for collaborating across multiple teams on data projects. Also great for distributed workflows which require more processing power than a local machine. Less useful for quick exploratory analysis. Need to host datasets outside of local

RapidMiner Studio

We have found that in the predictive space it does a great job. It also supports easy data standardization. These are all positives within a small team of analysts. We have not used it on a wide scale for the average user.

  • We have had trouble exporting the models to languages like php.
  • The ability to build custom models would be useful, using scripting languages.
  • Ability to automate running the machine learning for multiple tasks would be useful.

Alternatives Considered

Other systems might be easier to set-up but Anaconda is a fairly flexible analytics toolkit. It can be configured in a way that truly matches the way in which your business or analytics department works. Built on top of lots of open source projects so things aren't siloed and you can avoid vendor lock-in.

The best part about RapidMiner is it mainly focus on machine learning algorithms whereas other tools focus on mainly the extract transform load (ETL) process. It can serve for all the KDD (Knowledge data discovery) process stages e.g. data cleaning, transformation, modeling and visualization whereas other tools will serve only one or two purposes.
