It is also an excellent tool for learning, teaching, feedback, referencing, etc. When used properly, many teams can benefit (marketing, sales, CS, Product, etc). Any team that wants an easy way to reference and get info from calls with customers can benefit from it, and it is a great way to get insights. We find it less useful for forecasting, but that is just the company-specific way of predicting.

  • AI summaries- reviewing everything discussed without going through the whole recording or transcript.
  • Next steps summary- helping me tie up my meeting with action items after the fact.
  • Call statistics let me know how frequently everyone is speaking and where patience can be practiced in allowing others to speak.

  • It could use a predefined follow-up email template and populate the predefined fields or questions.
  • It could ask you when to start recording (on Zoom) instead of doing it at some awkward random moment.
  • It sometimes misses the speaker when creating a transcript.

  • Policies (cancelations have to be done with 24 hours even if you don't use the software)
  • Integrations don't work well and are clunky
  • Ability to customize is lacking
  • Overall call quality and system quality is poor
  • Reporting and getting information out of the system is almost impossible
  • Managers cannot access reps' info, they have to log in as the rep

I use it daily to help me with my and the team's deals. Our CEO has used it with very little training, which has been great. It is designed for your state-of-the-art seller in 2025. Unlike software like Salesforce, where it feels like you need a bachelor's just to be able to make a few changes, Gong is idiot-proof.

Zoom has great integrations and summary tools. There is less insight at the company level, whereas Gong is built to give insight across the customer journey. Zoom pushes to Hubspot nicely, but Hubspot doesn't have the capabilities to organize this data at the company level in the way that Gong does. You can piece together the call recording features, but you can't replace the level of insight that Gong offers at the company level by leveraging call data
