Sigma [Computing] is being used across our entire organization as our Business Intelligence hub for all of our data across all of our business functions. For marketing we use Sigma for business performance reporting, campaign performance reporting, customer segmentation, cost monitoring and a range of other ad hoc analysis.
  • Easy to use for business users
  • Powerful and fast
  • Great self service tools for education and troubleshooting
Cons
  • There's lots of room for improvement for flexibility and ease of use for data visualization
  • Room for improvement for CSV file upload limits
Sigma [Computing] is by far the easiest to use and most powerful business intelligence tool that I've ever used. It really puts the power of huge databases in the hands of business users in an interface that is familiar, easy to learn and easy to understand.

Sigma Computing provides a vital link in our ticket reissuing process, allowing a link that greatly reduces the time to find this information when working on customer service issues. We have trained all our agents on this process so if they ever need to use it they can access it readily. This reduces the need for them to send this on to a supervisor. Previously we would have to search the system to try and find this information and often not be able to retrieve it.
  • Links together a reissued ticket with the original confirmation number and vice versa
  • Shows incidents on a trip readily without having to contact dispatch
  • Easy-to-use interface
Compiling data and showing connections that are usually not as easy to find in the system.

Sigma is the main reporting tool that is being used at Roofstock, in addition to Tableau. It is being used across the organization answering all our data questions.
  • Easy to build , even the novice reporting users can use.
  • Visualizations are easy to build.
  • User friendly, they have the capability of applying the filters and explore the data as needed.
Cons
  • Add joins to the workbook.
  • We will migrate all the reports from tableau to Sigma eventually once we have all the visualization capabilities setup in Sigma. For example: there are no indicators in sigma, which are used in our current tableau dashboards.
  • Add more details in the help, for self-learning. E.g.: Add examples as needed for each visualization.
For all the basic reporting needs, Sigma is very useful and easy. But for advances reporting capabilities like MoM / WoW including indicators , summaries is not possible at this point.

I use Sigma to build debugging tools to check the configuration and metadata input by Ops and Customers. I am quite proficient in writing SQL and query data, but not everyone is. It's really handy and let people use the tools so that they can figure out the issue on their own, instead of leveraging engineers time.
  • I like the conditional highlight feature.
  • I like the flexibility I can change the width and height of the widget.
  • I constantly update the dashboard so I'd like to see version somewhere in the view.
  • The query is a bit slow but I don't know if that's Sigma's issue or the query engine we are leveraging on.
  • flexibility change the UI layout
  • clear permission level
Cons
  • a bit slow (updating the permission view, query, changing the tabs)
well suited:
- building tools and be available for non-engineers

less appropriate
- just for analysis purpose. Jupyter is probably better tool. The main reason is Sigma takes quite a few steps to add a UI module. There is a learning curve for beginner in my opinion.
- i don't see a lot of charts support compared to similar products

We use Sigma Computing for the internal dashboard, to report on how key metrics across the company are performing.
  • Easy to use for new users
  • Loads pretty fast
Cons
  • Could use more built-in documentation of changes
  • Could use better tools to manage multiple editors of workbooks
Sigma Computing is most appropriate for serving up quick dashboards, or for providing a way for non-analyst to perform basic analysis. It is less appropriate for larger-scale projects where multiple users might be using it or for deeper analysis.
