Overall Satisfaction with Arena

Arena is our PLM with our customer. It is used across the entire organization, and allows us clear visibility with our customer to determine what processes/procedures aren't in place and allows us to implement them.
  • Arena allows all of our documents (quality, process instructions, CAPA, etc.) to be located in one central place for quick access and retrieval from anywhere we have internet access.
  • Allowing a smart phone application. It would be great to allow users to log into an application rather than having to go into the internet from their phone.
  • Arena has allowed our team to better find processes/instructions and ensure they are accessible for audits.
  • Price
  • Product Features
It was used by our customer which became something they requested we use. We tested it out, and found it to be a great platform.
It was very easy to implement. From creating/implementing our own custom attribute and templates it was very user friendly. If we had any questions, Arena was able to assist us in a timely manner.
Arena was recommended by a customer and we didn't evaluate many other software packages.
Arena is well suited for quality and engineering scenarios. It allows a full range of revision history, ECO/PD approval processes, and all quality related functions, including Failure Analysis.

Lessons for Success

We were able to introduce an entire QMS within Arena, and incorporate nonconformances, auditing, CAPA (8D and 5D), as well as create numerous metric tables for our organization to use.

The hardest part was having to architect everything from scratch, but Arena was great with support. You are limited by certain factors (i.e. lack of deliverables) if Arena doesn't have it on their platform. They can create it, but it does take time.
We used Arena to create an entire training program. We had to create it from scratch as it was a new area for Arena that they were just rolling out. Arena provided us access, but we had to create the methods for issuing training, adding all key members, etc.

it was great to be able to track all of the training assigned to personnel, and see who was past due, new to the company, and what items needed to be trained on.
Take the time to play with the system. It is very user friendly and can be curtailed to every company with time. It's like a large Myspace platform where the user was able to select things without really having to code very much so anyone can use it.

Knowing the backbone to the system is pivotal is allowing users to understand what options to make and how to make them.
