Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used BlueJeans during my consulting time with an educational organization. My experience was good and I recommended it be used for a new client who needed a platform to implement an online learning program. I've used Zoom pretty extensively and find BlueJeans to be comparable. The BlueJeans platform helps my client (and me) to reach remote audiences and engage them online for instructional/teaching purposes.

Pros and Cons

Customer service: BlueJeans provides prompt and helpful customer service and works especially well with new users or users who are not familiar with such a platform. As an online course instructor, I found it really helpful to refer users to Blue Jeans customer service -- which saved me time with troubleshooting and allowed me to focus on my task of teaching remotely.
Platform: It's easily understood and easily installed. Even for new users, it's pretty intuitive.
Functionality: I really like the breakout room function for smaller group discussions. I find it comparable in many ways to Zoom, which is good.

I'd need to spend more time with the platform to answer this. I tend to think that the simpler the better though. A "getting started" tutorial is helpful for new users.

Return on Investment

BlueJeans has allowed me to reach geographically dispersed groups for the purposes of training.
BlueJeans has allowed me to record/recall sessions.
BlueJeans has enabled convenient dialogue with clients and more flexibility with the logistics of training.

Alternatives Considered

Zoom and Adobe Connect

I used Adobe Connect for several years with another client for training purposes. We had some trouble with response time, bandwidth, and user functionality. More recently I've used Zoom -- and continue to use it with other clients. I find BlueJeans and Zoom comparable. Both are easy to use and a logical choice for diverse audiences.

Usability

Based on user feedback I've received after training, the majority of users have found it simple to use. Joining a meeting is seamless. I click the URL in my calendar and I'm in.

Likelihood to Recommend

BlueJeans has been well suited for small group interactions -- including training and breakout groups for multiple discussions. Users I've worked with haven't found it to be great on an iPhone (hard to see other participants given the layout of the screen/size of the device). Desktop use has worked best for the purposes of my clients.
