Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Catalyst 3650 Series
  • Catalyst 9300 Series
  • Catalyst 9500 Series
These switches provide connectivity in stacks to our users. They also are used to provide Layer 3 routing and up to 40GB of back end connection using single mode fiber over longer distances. I like the fact that the expansion modules are hot plug. All our switches support POE and POE+ as well as dual power supplies. The only down side is that I wish the software upgrade process was a bit easier and less time-consuming (on average a 10-15 minute reboot).
  • Loads of features
  • Fast connection
  • Expansion capabilty
  • Stacking
  • Dual Power supplies
  • Software upgrades can take some time and are a multi step process
  • They are reliable
  • They have dual power supplies
  • Easy to work with
We dont use DNA with our switches due to the exorbitant price. They do have a lot of advanced features . We primarily use them for PCs and IP phones with POE.

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

Gone are the days of huge chassis based switches. Stackable modular switches now rule and are here to stay. These switches are packed with features and use the old reliable IOS operating system. They have a lot of options in their expansion modules, though I do wish there was a "combo" or dual module model allowing me to do 10 GB and 40GB fiber in the same chassis. Maybe it's too much to wish for.
