Overall Satisfaction with Druva inSync
Druva inSync is being used across all of the client devices across our enterprise to backup local client data in order to limit the risk of data loss should a device become lost, damaged or stolen. Additionally, it's used for legal searches where data relating to a specific topic, event or person is required to complete an investigation.
- Cloud-based backup of client data works well, use of bandwidth is appropriately managed in order to ensure it does not saturate the link.
- Recovery of client data can be done directly back to the device in the original folder quickly and efficiently, restoration back to an alternative location can also be achieved should it be required.
- Administrative and legal searches work well and enable finding of documents relatively quickly and easily.
- The Druva inSync mobile app is clunky to use and does provide an easy method to edit documents from a mobile device which some of the competitor products do.
- The Druva inSync PC app does not allow for a right-click restore function, instead, you need to use the full client which is more time consuming and less obvious to a typical user.
- Druva inSync is natively unable to backup files in OneDrive which has become a common business tool.
- There has been a positive ROI from being able to recover accidentally deleted or lost files reducing rework time.
- The loss of field staff members portable device was previously quite impactful, we're now able to send a stock device out to the user who can then login and restores their files quickly.
- Increases in the businesses use of OneDrive has begun to reduce the ROI from the current inSync licenses we use, in the mid-term we expect to see this reduce to a point where we look to invest in other licenses or new technology.
We do not currently use Druva inSync to backup any cloud apps however we have been investigating the use of Druva inSync for backing up Microsoft Office 365 with particular focus on Microsoft OneDrive followed by Microsoft Teams and SharePoint in order to address gaps in our current data protection stack.
We do not use inSync to identify potential data risks at this time nor do we have an intention to do so.
We enable our Legal and Patents team to have access to Druva inSync in order to carry out eDiscovery searches for documents and add people to LegalHolds. This enables our Legal team to carry out investigative work without raising awareness of the IT group and without causing additional overhead for the IT group.
Druva performs well against a variety of vendors, the pricing model was appropriate to meet our needs when we licensed it in 2016 and the feature set was deep in specific areas but not as broad as some vendors.
