Overall Satisfaction with FileMaker Pro

Everyone uses Filemaker Pro at my school for several different purposes. The most widespread use is monitoring and documenting student progress. We also use it to log homework and track detentions. This is the system by which we create student student report cards and progress reports. It gives us the ability to work collaboratively on these tasks.
  • It is versatile, allowing for many different uses.
  • It allows for collaboration well.
  • It can be organized well if the user knows how to manage it.
  • The software can be overwhelmed on our network at times if too many people are logged in.
  • There are times where the software can be laggy, such as when using things like "Check all."
  • Filemaker Pro is not very customizable on the user side.
  • Allowed for greater collaboration.
  • It can be frustrating to get bumped from the servers.
  • It allows for documentation of many different tasks in one central program.
This is based on our servers so it is more private than other options such as Google Drive documents. This allows us to comply with Federal laws such as HIPA and FERPA. This is obviously important to us. It also can be used in many different variations, so that helps drive the reason why we use it so widely.
Filemaker Pro is useful as a collaborative software for in-house documents. It also gives the user the benefit of seeing how their work will be formatted. It has some solid capabilities, but can overloaded on our servers and network at times, making work difficult. There have been a few bugs along the way, but they were fairly easily solved.
