Overall Satisfaction with IBM Blueworks Live
We used IBM Blueworks Live to document all of our business scenarios during our initial discovery sessions. We would then go back and use each of the processes to deep dive into the who/what/when of each step so that we weren't potentially missing important details. These then became part of the artefacts used for design, QA and training.
- Process documentation
- Swimlanes
- Overview vs deep dive - both views are available
- Capturing key details in each step of the process
- Navigation
- Sharing with unlicensed users
- Being able to walk through the process maps gave us consistent language
Unfortunately our instance of IBM Blueworks Live was not well implemented. Our implementation partners had their "live" documents in their own site, and not our own site. The process of copying their versions to ours was cumbersome and costly. Had we insisted they build their workflows in our instance I can see this would have been a very powerful tool.
Again, seeing the previous comment, we didn't benefit from that.
IBM Blueworks Live allowed us to collaborate and document with the business on the fly, and then share those processes with everyone involved in the delivery of our solutions. We were doing a greenfield implementation and IBM Blueworks Live was used to document all of our processes.
