Overall Satisfaction with Linode
Used for internal services (messaging and information-sharing platforms) as well as any projects requiring cloud technology support, such as remote device management.
- Clear setup options, easy to configure machines to match requirements
- Fast spin-up of servers
- Clear billing
- Challenging to migrate down to smaller servers when needed
- Could have more automated wizards, such as to apply best-practice security settings to new servers
- Would be great to be able to directly download a virtual machine or have other easy manual backup/restore options
- Cost-effective solution that can be passed directly to the customer
- Provides less expensive platforms for services (e.g., Slack vs Mattermost)
- Robust platform can be trusted to maintain value
Ultimately allowed us to maintain services at very low costs during this period of economic uncertainty. Presently only using one Nanode server at $5/month with $2/month backup to support Mattermost for a small team. Far more cost effective than paying for other services like Slack.
Never had any issues with daily use of their servers for business functions (e.g., Mattermost)--reliability is important here. My business is aligned with the marketing and event industry, which requires that everything works perfectly during the event, and Linode has never let us down.
