Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

Marketo is being used by the marketing department to send B2B emails. It easily integrates with our CRM and allows us to easily communicate to our business customers.

Pros

  • Marketo integrates well with SalesForce CRM.
  • Marketo makes sending an email simple.

Cons

  • The product docs are not detailed enough. Feels like they were written in crayon for an over simplified user.
  • Support is a joke. Almost every issue is resolved before support can figure out what is going on.
  • The user experience is dated. There is no drag and drop feature to set up campaign flows.

  • Lead Management
We use Marketo to communicate with all of our existing B2B customers. We let them know about new monthly programs, send newsletters to various business segments and keep everyone up to date on any company changes. Marketo works well for this purpose.
In the past I have used Exact Target. In comparison I find Marketo more challenging to use. I feel like I have to think backwards to do things in Marketo as compared with Exact Target. It is not easy to find documents that help you learn Marketo on a deep level. Most documentation is brief and not in depth enough the really get a handle on how to use the product.
Marketo is well suited for simple email sends or simple projects that do not require much logic. It takes a long time to run queries and testing often shows filters do not work as intended. I have had to pay for professional services assistance because support doesn't understand marketing campaigns or how I am trying to set them up.
