Overall Satisfaction with NAKIVO Backup & Replication

After a physical to virtual migration of several machines, I needed good backup software to protect these new VMs. With a smaller infrastructure it didn't make a lot of sense to spend the money on a subscription to Veeam when I could buy a license for a one time fee. Now we have organized daily, and weekly backups that get sent off site as well for DR purposes. Also the email alert is very useful, I get email notifications everything a job completes or fails so I always know what is going on with my backups.
  • Back up offsite

  • Support
  • Notifications
  • The dashboard is an eyesore with how it refreshes and flashes.
  • Retention periods compared to what the system says I have is confusing.
  • Efficient backups
  • Very fast
  • Peace of mind
  • Email notifications
I've tried Veeam and Vembu. I personally liked NAKIVO better because you can do a one time license purchase, which I see as a big advantage over subscription based. Their customer support was also better. I personally found the user interface to be easier to use as well. It also seemed easier to do things like set up additional repositories for something like offsite backups.

Yes

Yes

Did implementation of NAKIVO Backup & Replication go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy NAKIVO Backup & Replication again?

Yes

It's an excellent solution to backup and restore VMs. The speed of the backups is very impressive, even sending them offsite. It can do everything you need including bare metal recovery to different hardware, which is great. In my scenario I wanted onsite backups to a nas, which also copied to a portable hard drive, and I also wanted offsite backups to an external repository. Once setup, I just let it run and check the email alerts to see if anything failed. I have a simple infrastructure, but it works well.
