Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

We use Oracle Cloud for most of our production and test environment web and application hosting needs. Using their affordable geolocated services, we are able to provide hosting services without breaking the budget. With the wide range of services on offer, there is also the scope to grow our cloud-based infrastructure as and when it needs to.
  • Excellent reliability.
  • Good compatibility.
  • Great cost-benefit ratio for ARM servers.
  • Windows hosting is not as good as Azure.
  • Documentation is not as good as AWS.
  • Configuration can be overwhelming at first.
  • The always-free tier has cut our testing environment costs, as it has allowed us to have that testing capacity always there.
  • Their clear billing shows us exactly what is causing our costs to accumulate.
  • ARM based compute instances are very cost effective to run.
Oracle Cloud is far cheaper to run than Microsoft Azure for Linux machines, especially on the ARM platform. We selected Oracle because we had the capability to run our applications from ARM, and we desired cost savings for our web application hosting without sacrificing performance. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is the clear winner in this department and a decision we do not regret!

Would you buy Oracle Cloud Infrastructure again?

Yes

Oracle Cloud is an excellent choice if you want to get started with cloud hosting. Their always-free tier provides an excellent range of services to help you determine if cloud hosting is right for you, especially if your requirements are for Linux and are not restricted to the x86 architecture. Oracle Cloud is likely less appropriate if your requirements are to host with Windows - it is supported to host Windows servers, but not as well supported as Microsoft's cloud offering.
