Overall Satisfaction with Portainer
Using Portainer to manage standalone docker nodes, as well as Swarm and Kubernetes clusters, all in one place.
Portainer makes it simple to monitor the running containers and instances, but also to deploy new clusters.
Portainer is equally useful for single-node clusters, so whenever you need to manage your own dev environment, home cluster, or large infrastructure, Portainer is always there to provide you with everything you need to efficiently do your duties.

- Managing complex clusters like Swarm or Kubernetes
- Deploying new applications, stacks and clusters
- Managing local development environment
- Visualising overall infrastructure
- All nodes managed from one place
- Beautiful web interface
- Log monitoring UI could be better. The current implementation is finicky and doesn't work so well
- Stacks are hard to manage once created. If you change the way you connect to the node, it will consider stack as orphaned. There is no easy way to change node association, without modifying database directly
- Official documentation recommends creating a volume, instead of using bind mount. This is potential data loss risk as docker compose -v will delete associated volumes without asking. It happened to me.
- They're limiting functionality of Community edition a little bit too much.
- Pricing plans for business editions are not affordable for small organisations and teams
- Pleasant UI with dark mode support
- Stacks
- All environments/nodes at one place
- Support for Swarm
- Support for single node environments with plain docker
- Simplify clusters management
- Simplify deployment of new clusters and applications
- Tremendous time savings since there is everything at one place, just under your fingertips
- Well designed UI helps a lot pinpointing failing/unhealthy instances on your nodes. This saves a lot of time.
I tried several solutions, like 4Yacht, but none offers everything Portainer does. Portainer is the most complete container management software out there.
