Red Hat OpenShift Kubernetes Engine (self-managed)

Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift

We use it in our company to make our applications work better, and it can ensure the smooth running of the applications. Additionally, it also helps in better organization by enhancing efficiency and increasing the security aspect, and I can say it is more like a background hero who works in silence to make everything work better.
  • Enhancing the security of the system.
  • Helps in the organization to a large extent.
  • Helps in running applications with ease and smoothly.
  • It could do better in the user interface, as it seems a bit complex to some of my colleagues.
  • Integration with other tools needs more work.
  • I do feel that automated enhancement features cause unnecessary changes.
  • It surely increases the operational productivity of the organization.
  • Its stability and flexibility make it worth having within the team.
  • Downside is around the complexities in using it as it requires proper training to make efficient use of it.
The way our organisation develops and maintains apps has significantly changed as a result of OpenShift. Our developers can work more quickly as a result, which speeds up the creation and updating of programmes. In term of communication I can say it largely impacted the connectivity between operational and development team. Although a bit complex to learn but worth it once done.
It has definitely enhanced the performance not only directly but indirectly as well; it has helped in the smooth running of the application and also handled different workloads at the same time. It ensures that the applications work well, consistently, and efficiently. Although it was a bit taxing to learn, now I feel at ease in using it.
I have worked with Kubernetes, which shares great similarities with Red Hat openShift, but in terms of ease of use, Red Hat is better as Kubernetes requires extra tools for completing certain tasks, which can be a little taxing sometimes. On top of it, Red Hat has built-in tools for coding, etc, which makes it even better when it comes to efficiency and results.

Do you think Red Hat OpenShift delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Red Hat OpenShift's feature set?

Yes

Did Red Hat OpenShift live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Red Hat OpenShift go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Red Hat OpenShift again?

Yes

It works great for big organizations for better speed and flexibility. It's also handy if you need your apps to work smoothly on different cloud systems. But if you're a small team with a simple app, or if you don't have a lot of tech experts or a big budget, there might be simpler options that fit better. Also, if your apps don't need to change size a lot or if you're not using lots of different tech at once, a simpler tool could be easier to handle. It all depends on what your team and apps need!
