Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We upgraded from QuickBooks Professional in April 2018. We use Intacct as part of a suite of products to manage our entire back office. We currently use TimeClock Plus for timekeeping, Workforce Go for payroll and human resources, and Intacct for A/P, GL and financial reporting. (Workforce Go was recommended as one of Intacct's preferred payroll providers, but we had an extremely negative experience with that company and are currently transitioning to ADP)
  • Intercompany transactions. We were tracking these manually in our previous system, and the seamlessness with which Intacct handles them has created a great deal of efficiency for us.
  • Reporting - with a small caveat. The reporting is robust, but there are not a lot of out-of-the-box reports that will work. You will need to learn the report writer right away so that you can write your own reports as needed.
  • Multi-user and approver functionality. It allows us to electronically obtain approvals from off-site managers on all purchasing transactions.
  • Help desk. We have tried to place a few tickets, with varying degrees of success. Several times we've had to just solve the problem ourselves or live with it.
  • Implementation. More structured training would have been helpful. We did have a dedicated team of qualified trainers, but I would have preferred self-guided online lessons. This is probably just a personal preference.
  • It has allowed us to double our revenue and transaction volume with less staff than would have been required under our old system.
  • It has allowed us to lessen the amount of time spent on distributing reports by giving report access to managers
I'm not sure exactly what this question means. We find that most of the processes are straightforward once you know how to use them.
The integration was cumbersome and lengthy. We had a knowledgeable team working with us, and that really helped. We now feel that the outcome was worth the effort of integration, but we weren't sure it would be at the time!
Intacct is MUCH better than QuickBooks at handling complicated transactions and providing customized reporting. (QuickBooks was very good at doing lots of stuff well right out of the box, but did not handle multi-entity transactions or multi-user functionality well.) It has been a while since I used Microsoft Dynamics GP, but I remember it being less intuitive in many ways than Sage.
Based on our experience, Intacct would be well suited for a multi-entity company with lots of intercompany transactions. It handles due to/from affiliates like a dream. It is also good for companies with approvers off-site, using the purchasing module. It might not be well suited for a company without a relatively sophisticated accounting staff, because the reporting is complex but robust.
