Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We use Sage Intacct to manage the finance dept of a large family office. We upgraded to Intacct because we needed multi-currency and global consolidation functionality. We are impressed with the benefits as we continue to implement and restructure our processes to take advantage of the system's capabilities.
  • Multi-Currency - We have 4 currencies that we commonly use and Intacct does all the translations for us.
  • Global Consolidations - We have several parent-subsidiary relationships and the consolidation unit consolidates well for us.
  • We like the flexibility of the cash management functions to pay invoices from multiple companies if it needs to be allocated.
  • The support function within Sage is poor. It has taken months to get issues resolved. We've reported 2 significant issues that took > 3 months to even get someone to look at, and >6 months to be resolved.
  • The help function within Intacct is not helpful. I virtually get no information when researching functionality or procedures. I have to go to the community pages to get any information.
  • Intacct has made our financials more transparent and much easier to quickly produce information.
We have benefited from the GL and AP modules. We have cut down on the time to run checks with a central cash management function and can process AP for all companies simultaneously. We do not use the AR and order management systems.
We have benefited most from the multi-currency module, as we use 4 currencies on a monthly basis. The global consolidation module has streamlined our reporting processes.
Because it was not adequately explained to us that when we said we wanted to bring over 2 years of history, that WE would have to populate that history into Intacct via importing journal entries. We had to hire a temp for a month to format the entries. It was very disappointing to find out during our integration meeting with our consultant that they were not going to manage this, as it was not included in our contract and there weren't enough hours allocated for this process.
Intacct was the only system that provided the functionality we needed - multi-currency, global consolidations, and central cash management. Other systems were too expensive for what we needed, as we were going to have to pay for any additional features that we didn't need, in order to get the ones we did need.
Intacct is best suited for multiple companies with common ownership, multiple dimensions needed, and higher transaction volumes. It handles the complexity well. A more basic company structure would not warrant such a powerful system. I don't currently know of any specific situations that it doesn't handle, but we've been on Intacct for less than 2 years and are still exploring the functionality.
