We have a great experience with portals, webshops, Fiori apps, non-Fiori web applications, integration of SAP and non-SAP solutions, IoT, workflows, etc. It can also be combined with hyperscaler services. It's appropriate for mid-sized or large extensions but less suitable for small extensions which can be efficiently achieved in-app, i.e., inside SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA.
