Overall Satisfaction with Slack

At this time Slack is being used within our department. Since Covid-19's changes, we have been working remotely for the last 3 months and Slack has helped us stay connected throughout the day. It's easier to quickly get a question out to the team and discuss in real time, rather than awaiting emails or getting everyone on a different platform. We love it!

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Free.
  • Great for large groups.

Cons

  • Not the prettiest app to look at, looks a bit old school.
  • Inability to block users.
  • It's helped keep communication between our team.
  • Google Hangouts (Classic)
Although very similar, Slack seems to be more geared toward professional chats than Google Hangouts.
I have not had the need for support from Slack, which in a sense shows their support on the back and has been seamless.

I believe Slack is a great alternative to group chatting with co-workers in different departments. It's free to use, and easy to navigate. You can have multiple groupings which is great!
