Overall Satisfaction with Snagit

Snagit is being used by myself and the team I work with to help us take screenshots for courses, lab guides, student guides, instructor guides and to create how-to documentation. It is what we exclusively use when needing to take any screenshot. Using snagit has allowed us to capture screenshots that are of a higher quality than we have experienced in the past with other software.
  • I find that snagit allows more flexibility when I take screen shots, allowing me to choose what area of my screen I want to take a snap of rather than having to crop it in the editing phase.
  • Snagit keeps a library of my screenshots. This is a feature I thought I would not need at first but have grown accustomed to using and depending on this feature.
  • The editing capabilities have been one of the most amazing features. Working with the snagit software I am able to edit the screenshots adding text, pointers, highlights, steps, etc with ease. It is just a one stop tool. I do not need to copy and paste my image in another tool to edit.
  • I have found in the version of Snagit I have that I could use more details on setup or easier setup. I like to have a hotkey for the screen shots and found that with Windows 10 it was more difficult to set up. I am sure this might be a Windows 10 issue but Snagit could offer some tips on how to set it up correctly without my having to go digging for the information.
  • I would like more editing features, it serves its purpose now but if there was room for improvement more editing would be nice.
  • I do not care for the tab that is always open on my screen, I find that I am always accidentally sliding past it and then the drop down appears. I have tried to have it in different positions on my screen but nothing seems to really work for me. There may be a step I can take to make this go away and pop up with a hotkey but I do not feel snagit has educated me enough to know how to do that.
  • Because my team uses snagit and we have a standard for what edits we use to create specific documentation it has added a great deal of uniformity to our screenshots that we use. This has been a huge plus for us and allows our documentation to be of a higher quality.
  • Snagit has given me the chance to make my documentation more thorough. The editing features allow me to point out and show a person what I need them to see by means of my choosing. This overall provides greater detail.
  • Editing is faster and easier. I no longer need to have 2 programs in order to take a screenshot and edit. I simply click my hotkeys, it opens the editing program when done, then stores it in the library for later use. It greatly reduces the time it normally took.
  • Snipping Tool and PrintScreen
Snagit has done more than any other tool we have used. As a team, we would use Snipping Tool or take a PrintScreen then edit it in various photo editing software. By using the built-in editing tool we maintain a uniform look from one screenshot to another. This has never been accomplished before by the archaic means we were using prior to Snagit.
For any person who needs to be able to take screen shots this would be the tool to use. I currently use it every day to create documentation, how-tos, send examples, show steps to a colleague (without a full-blown how-to), send error reports, etc. This tool allows me the flexibility to take the screen shot, edit and copy/save all in one place. It has made it my go-to tool and I no longer use any other software for screenshots or editing. I have not found any scenario where it is less appropriate or has not been usable.
