Overall Satisfaction with ThoughtSpot
We use ThoughtSpot to supplement Tableau in sales analytics and marketing teams. It is used for quick data access and analytics.
- It's fast, and easy to use for non technical users.
- Alternative non-specialist search based analytics tools are all too young to be useful.
- There are no per user fees, so it's possible to democratise access to key data.
- Loading data can be slow.
- Total storage is generally limited by RAM, which makes space relatively expensive (Snowflake connector has potential to mitigate this for some users).
- Cloud option is expensive.
- Faster time to answers.
- More time to question.
- Data quality has improved as a result of greater attention.
ThoughtSpot is generally very easy to use. It's a search experience, which most users are now familiar with (Google, Bing, etc).
For consumers, 1 hour. Longer to learn the meaning of the data of course.
For admin - you need to understand how the meta data is processed, etc. to create good user experiences. This is not hard, but takes a few days experimenting.

It's certainly fast, even with larger data sets.
It is unfortunately possible to end up with duplication in your meta data, which can result in unhelpful results (usually these are easy to spot, but in theory you could create a situation where the results are misunderstood - i.e. wrong). Careful planning of the solution is required to get the most out of the technology.

SpotIQ will likely become a useful feature, and probably for some organisations already is. We haven't relied upon it at this point.
