Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Varicent in order to be able to help to properly pay out different bonuses to employees.

Pros and Cons

Complete scheduler events
Allow testing in other environments
Send and receive files

Logging and not having a centralized area to view all logs
Nested items on the UI - have a hard time finding them
Inability to add code directly

Return on Investment

Ease of keeping employee information centrally
Good security
Automation of certain payroll services

I give it a 7 because it does what it is intended to. However, I find it difficult to use the UI sometimes as there are nested items that are difficult to find. They also do not have a great search tool. Once you get the hang of Varicent, it is a great product, but there is a lot of learning curve at the beginning.

Exceptional Examples of Varicent Support

They respond immediately with production level issues. I have been on calls with the Varicent support team for multiple hours until the situation has been fixed, even with support workers switching out once their shifts are over. They are always nice and try their best to help with problems that we are facing.

Scalability

It is scalable, but there are downsides if there are previous implementations in terms of trying to update these implementations for a large group of users.

Alternatives Considered

PostgreSQL

Varicent is an all-in-one platform that provides database access, UI, and ability to create calculations, reports, etc. from data. I like this better than traditional databases as it takes what would've been additional coding and makes it an easy process to go through with just a few clicks of a button.

Likelihood to Recommend

Varicent is good for keeping track of employees and being able to complete different queries on them. Varicent would not be a good use-case if you would prefer a NOSQL database.
