Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam Data Platform for the Backup and Restore and Monitoring and Reporting pieces. We use it for Backups of our entire environment, modeling the 3-2-1 model. We use a Linux hardened repository with Immutability to protect from Ransomware. We have about 220 VMs we protect with our Veeam backup jobs and backup copy jobs. We maintain a 7-year retention. We will be moving the backup copy jobs to the cloud in 2024. We use the Monitoring and Reporting features to troubleshoot alarms and rightsize our systems.

We have approximately 220 VMs being protected by Veeam Data Platform. This is far more than was expected when we first purchased the product more than 7 years ago. We have nothing but good interactions with Veeam Customer Service and Technical Support. Their seminars/webinars are top notch and very helpful.
- We backup over 220 VMs in our environment.
- We have had very few times when we needed to restore a systeme, but when we did we used Instant Recovery and had the VMs back up in about 20 minutes.
- Has been very useful for our DEV team to restore a copy of a database to another place and use it for testing.
Going virtual across all our servers and using SAN rather than tape drives made switching to Veeam the right choice for a new Backup System. Adding the Monitoring and Reporting feature provided us with deeper insight into troubleshooting, monitoring, and capacity planning our environment. We plan to add the Orchestation feature in the future to be able to automate our Disaster Recovery.
We have not utilized the Cloud yet, but that is in the plans for 2024.
Our data is stored on a SAN, so we have not utilized this feature yet.
