Overall Satisfaction with Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

It is being used by the whole organization for encrypted email. We also utilize the DLP for troubleshooting purposes mainly. You can use it to quarantine messages and release them upon discretion, but we're a small shop and that was more overhead than we wanted. We set the gateway up with policies. It's set it and forget 90% of the time.
  • Automatic Encryption
  • Notification of Alerts
  • Support
  • Zix Portal Management
  • Peace of mind for sure on transport of sensitive data.
It was referred to us by a vendor that aided in our Office 365 migration. After a demo, it was clear there was no need to look at other options. Price was fair, setup was straightforward and it requires little maintenance once running to your preferences.
It's great because it is set it and forget it. We spent 2-4 weeks monitoring everything, but once it was in a happy place, it just worked. We get emails daily showing the mail log so we can periodically check and make sure it is still working as expected. It is well suited for any size organization - maybe more so with ones that have to communicate with sensitive data. Either way, security is top priority for all businesses and email encryption is included in that.

Using Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

I'm not a Linux guy, but support was great in getting the implementation up and running. It takes some knowledge of how the product works and scans to be able to set it up to your preferences - things support can't always help with. Don't get me wrong, it's not rocket science, but you should definitely dedicate a few days to it. The only part that we have trouble with is the Zix Portal (where emails get sent if the recipient doesn't utilize TLS or other options). Users tend to have trouble because they have to create a login and we're unable to manage that in the way we want. It's a small problem, but it would be nice if it were a bit more robust. I have seen Office 365's encryption and it is nice to have a one time use to decrypt the message - the Zix Portal is preferred I suppose for ongoing threads...the user sends and receives the mail there so the entire thread stays encrypted.
