If you need an ecommerce, email marketing and affiliate program - it is great to have this all in one solution. Larger businesses with many employees in remote locations may need a different solution. If you do not need ecommerce or affiliate, you can use a lower cost program that costs less. The learning curve is short for a solo entrepreneur with some technical knowledge.

WooCommerce

WooCommerce can support pretty much any website's eCommerce needs but may need heavy customization to achieve more complex and difficult use case scenarios. If you have millions of monthly users, WooCommerce tables and code will need to be heavily modified and tuned for an optimal experience. Clearing transients and other "housekeeping" data regularly is one way to improve performance.

Likelihood to Renew

If I were in charge of the renewal decision I would really take a look at 1SC vs. Infusionsoft. There are many ways each are great and many ways they are different. I would look at what was best for my company and make the choice accordingly. I find that Infusionsoft has many more ways to intuitively market, segment and cultivate new leads and grow the business as a whole than 1SC currently has.

Easy to set up. Easy to use. Very low investment upfront. The investment is basically the cost of hiring someone to build the website, hosting, and any plugins necessary.

I gave it lots of points for being a simple product that instantly gives you a store. Very intuitive and simple for the client to update or implement. Loses LOTS of points when you want to do anything besides just sell stuff (coupons, etc) then it makes you pay big money for the add-ons and makes it difficult and time-intensive to develop your own.

Alternatives Considered

1SC was chosen years ago for the companies I've used it for. At that point they were one of the only companies offering this kind of service. The ability to have customers all in one place, have opt-ins to keep building the list and ability to add hundreds of products and programs and add these to the website are all reasons the company continues to use 1SC

I have used Easy Digital Downloads. While this platform is specifically geared towards digital only shops, it only integrates with Paypal on their free version. I personally don't like Paypal as a payment gateway, and opted for an option that would be more flexible. The product page layout was more to my liking with EDD but WooCommerce simply has more features available for free.

Return on Investment

  • Better ability to gather information quickly for customers to support in the customer service response time
  • Faster lead conversion
  • Ability for multiple users to use the product under different user names so the team can work on different projects at once
  • Unless you know HTML the newsletters can take some time to be formatted correctly based on other programs

  • The basic platform of WooCommerce is free and WooCommerce gives new updates without any premium subscriptions. That is a positive reason to use WooCommerce.
  • In order to have a stable store, WooCommerce needs to have secured hosting, which is costly.
  • WooCommerce Analytics is very descriptive for understanding business growth.
