It is very useful if a customer isn't quite sure what they want, and prefer not to speak to a member of our sales team directly. It is less useful for our experienced knowledgeable customers.

Intercom

Intercom is very well suited for all kinds of teams. Its powerful framework can be easily used by novices and experts alike to send automated notifications and messages to users on a website. Once the scripts have been installed on your website, setting up targeted alerts can be done at the click of a few buttons and requires no technical knowledge. You need minimal technical support in order to get the scripts up and running. Intercom is great for sales, support and marketing teams alike and has a very easy learning curve. You can set up a test environment on your website using Intercom's test mode to try out different alerts and notifications as well before trying it on your production environment.

  • Importing our existing frequently asked questions and question and answer pages to the AnswerDash platform is absolutely effortless.
  • The feature within AnswerDash 2 intuitively learns and forecast questions for each individual customer is remarkably accurate.
  • Our customer experience satisfaction is at an all-time high and is contributing to an increase in sales.

Cons

  • The price is on the high end. We use a good part of our web growth budget on just AnswerDash.
  • I really have no other complaints. Although expensive, it's worth every penny.
  • We have had 0% negative feedback from our customers regarding AnswerDash.

  • The ability to send push notifications (mobile) would be a cool addition that isn't currently available
  • An inbuilt notification center could be built using Intercom's tech stack which isn't currently something that the service offers
  • Intercom's phone integrations (to store calls and phone conversations) need a lot of customization unless you use their own service (JustCall)

It's currently a perfect fit for our needs, and we are customer-focused and small. When we grow, we may need to re-evaluate, but our current team finds it easy. Reviewing conversations is simple and allows for great training. The canned replies make service fast and easy. Smart suggestions remove the need to re-write technical walkthroughs and explanations for our FAQ

Intercom has really done a great job creating a focused product that provides huge value and is super easy to use. Our entire business group and a few engineering members are using it with no training whatsoever which is super rare for any platform.

Both Intercom and Drift are comparable in terms of their abilities. Although Intercom came into the market first, Drift has done well to keep up with Intercom's updates and offer similar services of its own. Intercom edges out Drift in terms of its abilities and wealth of integrations. However it would still be worth it to see whether Drift could be integrated with your other services or not and exactly what your requirements are. Based on your usage requirements, Drift could be a cheaper alternative to Intercom. Its pricing structure is flat and easier to use in order to project costs. However both companies are relatively flexible if you opt for custom plans based on whatever you are looking for. Freshdesk is an extremely cheap alternative to the two but offers very little flexibility in terms of usage. The UI customization options, automated alert options. message types and targeting options are limited but considering the low cost, it's an extremely handy option to consider for startups on a tight budget.
