Apttus

Apttus is well suited to provide an SFDC integrated CPQ experience. It can handle complex configurations and multiple languages. As a company that was transitioning off of a legacy CPQ solution, the adoption by our users was seamless with training lasting less than 4 hours. The user experience between SFDC and Apttus is so smooth that I would have a hard time imagining using Apttus independent of SFDC. That being said, I have heard they are developing an integrated experience with other CRM/ERP platforms. You will be best served if you are integrating with a platform that Apttus supports.

I think it would be a great tool for SMB companies looking to scale. By leveraging out of the box processes, they can efficiently and quickly scale.For more mid-market and enterprise clients, the solution is customizable and secure enough to meet the most demanding requirements.Overall, if you have a growing or large sales team that you want to manage and lead more effectively, Oracle Sales Cloud provides the tools and resources for your team to spend more time focusing on the client and closing deals.

  • As it is for any Fusion apps, Sales Cloud comes bundled with Social which is great to have for sales teams who communicate a lot internally.
  • Fantastic analytics capabilities. Not only in terms of reports but also in terms of very interactive charts and visual components like Infolets.
  • Customizable. For three different roles, we have three different dashboards which are completely custom made to ensure that each user sees the data relevant to them.
  • A very solid solution with a lot of advanced features.
  • Sales Cloud seamlessly integrates with other Fusion apps such as finance, PBCS, HCM.

The rating is based on several things:1) Ongoing support requirements being able to be addressed by cross training existing Salesforce administrators2) Apttus superior corporate vision for the quote to cash space3) Apttus execution of the corporate vision with automated agents (Max), and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning offerings to leverage the investment in Configure Price Quote4) Apttus corporate health and investment in the product line

Tier1/tier 2 support can only handle native functionality. Customizations have to be escalated to developers which aren’t included in the support program.

I go ahead and copy the people I directly worked with on implementation for assistance. I would rate them an 8 for support assistance.

Be iterative. Take the opportunity to build a catalog based on how Apttus works well. Learn the tool yourself or use an SI. Take the time to build a configuration / pricing migration tool with X-Author for Excel or roll your own. Stick with OOTB Apttus as any customization will cost you every time a new version is released

Alternatives Considered

We used QuoteWerks which did not integrate well with Salesforce. It had no approval process and the price book lived on each person's computer. If they did not connect to the server they were quoting old pricing. It allowed them to create products on the fly.

  • Unfortunately, our sales team has decreased productivity by trying to use the mobile application. It is poorly designed, and I've heard the same feedback from people at other organizations.
  • The ability to track and convert sales leads has proven to be a positive impact on ROI.
