Close.io is well suited for a sales organization who wants to track leads, make sure none slip through the cracks, move them into opportunities as discussions progress, and close new business. The simplicity of the platform is part of why it's powerful - it's full feature set can be easily understood and leveraged by even those without much training on the system. I'm not sure where Close.io would be less appropriate...

Salesmate

Nothing is perfect in life, but to give this a 9/10 wouldn't seem just as it's just such a good system. The features you get, for the price are just unbeatable...and I looked into a LOT of different systems before pulling the trigger on Salesmate. The app is smooth and works well, there is plenty of customizability and unlike most systems where I think 'It would be great if it did THIS' - with Salesmate 95% of the time, there is a way to do it, workaround or it is in the pipeline of tasks to implement. This is really well-architected software, at a great price, with great support. Not much more you could ask for. If you're looking at others mid-range software like Pipedrive, Freshsales, Agile or the like - I would strongly recommend Salesmate as the best solution...not sure how it would stack up to the Salesforce/HubSpot of the world, but the price to value ratio would likely put Salesmate in at #1.

  • For each client, it tracks emails, text messages, activities, files, calendar events, phone calls, to-do items.
  • Customization is quite good -- you add fields you need. Like was discovery received, full payment, partial payment, etc. You can later run reports.
  • Integration with other apps is good; I use QuickBooks and DocuSign.
  • Customer service is very good.

  • Minor bugs? - Sometime when I'm replying to an account it attempts to send the email as a different user. Thankfully I've only missed it when sending internal emails!

Salesmate

  • The search feature can be buggy and does not allow for highlighted text to be typed on. You must clear the box or hit backspace before typing. The only app in my life that does this.
  • The dashboard button is pointless if it still makes you choose between legacy or classic.

Close is a simpler platform to use when it comes to initiating email campaigns and managing leads. It has great visibility on opportunities and can be shared with specified users or can also be kept confidential. Close is not for someone who is very new to tools of its kind.

The product is extremely well thought out. Most CRMs are too cluttered. They have an exhaustive feature set, which comes at a cost of not being able to do the basics well. From my perspective, Salesmate has focused on mastering the basics (database management, email tracking, task management, etc.), and only then has implemented more technical features on top. The design is also simple, but beautiful, which makes the product a joy to use.

I haven't really had the need to use their support, but the only time I had an issue with the platform, the Close team was very attentive and responded in a short span of time. Also they take minimal time to solve issues. The only con here is there is no way to reach out to them apart from email.

Pipedrive was great for us for a long time. We used it for over 4 years. Our product and process was simple. When things got more complex, we needed something that could handle our growing needs and Pipedrive kept falling short. We built our own custom solution in Airtable and though it worked, we spend a lot of time managing it. Close was able to solve all our issues and save us hours per week in admin work.

Salesmate

Every call, chat and email creates a support ticket which is usually 24-48 hours for a response. I accomplished more with Salesmate support than I did with a month of the entire Fresh Works Suite. Also - all components are separate with Freshworks i.e. contacts to not sync between fresh caller, fresh desk, fresh sales and fresh everything. I could go on and on, but I have also tried Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho and many others.
Sales.mate is the BEST, I love them! Seriously.

  • Making the switch to Salesmate has saved us a fair amount from our prior service where we had to pay for all the additional features we wanted, whereas Salesmate includes it right out the gate.
  • By utilizing this tool we're able to stay on top of the sales cycle and overall lead flow which directly impacts our bottom line.
  • In terms of ROI if you work the system and utilize the tool as it should then you will make sales.
