Terapeak is a market research and intelligence tool with a particular emphasis on sales data to assist ecommerce vendors in decisioning. Terapeak was acquired by eBay in December 2017, and the company claims that it plans to integrate it into its Seller Hub suite of software.
DemandScience Activate is well suited for inclusion in paid media programs where there is an account-based focus. It's great to be able to pinpoint exactly the personas, job titles, and seniorities of those you're reaching, and see those names come through in acquisition reports. We see success in driving the right title paths into our database for nurturing.
Terapeak makes sense for people looking to sell a lot of items or resellers. It does not make sense for people selling one-off items or individuals looking to simply spring clean. It is great for determining pricing, what to start auctions at, and figuring out a shipping/returns strategy (whether or not to offer free shipping, have the buyer pay shipping, and if you should have returns allowed.) I would not recommend it if you just want to move the item out of your house or if you do not care what price an item sells for.
We would like to see more proactive communication on what's working and what's not without requiring a meeting - regular reporting cadence to assess asset quality
A dashboard view might be nice as well, again, so we can look at an asset and see how it's performing (or if it isn't) without having to wait on a rep to pull a report or schedule a walkthrough
I wish I could use Terapeak outside of eBay. Why can't I use it with other platforms like Mercari, Poshmark, etc.?
I don't like that I have to pay for this feature. Other selling platforms provide their sold information free of charge.
It feels antiquated. I need to click through many menus and tabs to price items. I wish it would automatically move me through the pages, instead of making me fill out the information, then hit "next" or "enter."
Our executives decided to not renew because we were not seeing the ROI they were looking for. However, our executives did not make the best decisions on the data Demand Science provided.
The leads were pretty straight forward. However, their appointment setting did not integrate well into our system and many of the meetings didn't occur. I had to chase a lot of prospects and many times Demand Science didn't provide direct dials.
I enjoyed working with the initial rep and campaign manager, but as the campaign manager left the company, there was a gap in expertise and customer care. This drop-off in quality of care was notified internally and caused team members to raise concerns. Hopefully, we will see improvements with the most recent change in campaign managers.
The quality of leads that we got from INFUSE media was truly horrible. The leads often did not meet our qualifications set that would qualify them as MQLs and if they did, when they were reached out to, we were told they had no interest in converting and that they didn't even remember clicking the ad. So, we did not know for sure where the leads came from and we could not convert them. None of this is a problem with DemandScience.
Terapeak can't be beaten for selling on eBay, because it is part and parcel with eBay. For comparable listings on other sites, I prefer Sellhound and Jungle Scout. I find that Webgility and Price2Spy are more helpful for SEO and getting to the top of Google's search results. I feel that I get more eyes on my products using other services when I am not specifically selling through eBay. But on eBay, Terapeak is the only service I will use.
We have saved time by using Terapeak for pricing. We did not price our items up too much but made them competitive with the market.
We made more money using Terapeak than we would have without it because we did not under-price items. Terapeak gave accurate comparable sold listings.
One negative impact was simply the cost. It was about $20/month and was set up to auto-renew. We forgot to cancel our membership and accidentally paid for a service we weren't using.
