FoxDen (Discontinued)

FoxDen tended to work slightly better for very small video conferences. The audio was typically reliable, so it would be ok to use for audio conferencing. It is definitely not ready for prime time: it cannot handle very large conferences. It didn't seem ready to be used on mobile either. I also think it's better suited for a smaller company.

Hoot Meetings

It is a great choice if someone wants to add a large number of participants and have a large team. I have been using it and haven’t found it ruining the quality of video because of participants. Furthermore, My team found it easy to join the link . Something that bothers me is that it doesn’t work well with a weak internet connection and this is troublesome for us.

Pros

FoxDen (Discontinued)

  • Easy to join meetings
  • Audio is fairly reliable
  • Moderately easy to host meetings
Lisa Durant | TrustRadius Reviewer

Hoot Meetings

  • Its integration with [Microsoft] Outlook is very helpful for us.
  • It provides the best quality of video and audio.
  • Its pricing is so fair and justified.
  • Its mobile application works quite smoothly.

Cons

FoxDen (Discontinued)

  • Horrible video quality. It basically never worked, and we stopped using the video feature.
  • Buggy behavior all the time. Dropped calls, loss of screen sharing, rendered unusable most of the time.
  • Poor response by the vendor to issues. The answer was basically "we know it's unusable, and we're trying to figure that out. There's nothing we can do right now."
Lisa Durant | TrustRadius Reviewer

Hoot Meetings

  • It requires a profoundly strong internet connection or else it stops working.
  • It is buggy.
  • There should be an update on it.

Alternatives Considered

FoxDen (Discontinued)

I believe they selected FoxDen because we use ReadyTalk for voice conferencing and FoxDen represented a cost savings compared to our previous Skype for Business investment. However, in the end, most of our company has abandoned ever using FoxDen and, instead, still uses all of the products listed above (Skype for Business, Google Hangouts, Slack) or just plain ReadyTalk voice conferencing.

Hoot Meetings

I was not satisfied with the quality of video Zoom used to provide us. Furthermore, my team didn’t find the Zoom link easy to join and above all creating link for the meeting was very hard and tricky in Zoom which is easy in Hoot and Hoot works well even with a large number of participants, and my teammates find it easy.

Return on Investment

FoxDen (Discontinued)

  • Increased the length of our meetings due to copious amounts of time spent trying to fix the video and screen sharing.
  • Added frustration for everyone who attempted to use it.
  • Ultimately resulted in a lot of money lost on video equipment that everyone stopped using in favor of voice-only conferencing due to the faulty video.
Lisa Durant | TrustRadius Reviewer

Hoot Meetings

  • My team and I can better coordinate.
  • I am able to bring my team on one page and can communicate freely.
  • I can add my whole team and the quality of the video remains the same.
