We had been slowly implementing Oracle products to replace several existing systems and so we needed a platform that would work to integrate across all of these solutions. Our company is fairly large and we work with a variety of clients and vendors as well. We needed an easier way for everyone to access information and discuss what data and future integration were most appropriate.

Salesforce Lightning Platform (formerly Salesforce App Cloud)

I can very easily see Salesforce being a valuable tool for more complex and longer sales cycles. If you're interacting with multiple contacts, departments, and tiers within a company this will give you the organization and powerful analytics you need. If you are working with the same contacts and accounts for long periods of time (sales cycles of several months or more) it might also be a good fit. Be ready to invest heavily is implementation and training from the very beginning. It is a complex tool that requires A LOT of thoughtful, careful, and thorough planning to be implemented successfully. It is not well suited to industries that change rapidly, where your contacts might be completely different today than they were last week or the business you were working with has closed. It does not make sense for a company who's sales goals rely very much on the volume of contract value. You will simply spend too much time on data entry that will, in the end, be unreliable.

  • Oracle Cloud Platform can provide consistent latency guarantees in multiple geographics.
  • It works well with Oracle Database that is being used as the primary database without the need for custom configuration.
  • Oracle Cloud Platform has reasonable customization options to fine-tune it for workloads that require very low latency for events/transactions.

  • Reports and dashboards - I can build my own reports very easily to see upcoming renewals, first-year clients and so on. Then, I can create my own custom dashboard to track my favorite reports.
  • Opportunities and quotes - when I first started here we didn't use Opportunities for tracking renewals and upgrades. Now, it's easy to see what I'm working on and when ready I just add the products to a quote and it sends it to our billing for really fast invoice creation. It used to take me hours to do this and now it's seconds.
  • I love using activities - it keeps me organized and up to date on all my accounts that I manage. Plus, I can create future tasks so I don't forget to reach out.
  • I can send mass emails to any group of clients and I can create nice email templates with "placeholders" which allow me to use the first name of the main point of contact across hundreds of organizations. Again, this saves me lots of time.

  • Going with any Oracle Cloud Platform Solution for BI Implementation, I would prefer a strong/powerful Oracle tool to push data in Oracle Cloud Datawarehouse.
  • There are chances of overage charges on using the Oracle Cloud Platform, if you choose to implement any services with non-allocated core CPU. So expect to give some alert before even allowing to implement any service with not allocated core CPU or remove the displaying of non-allocated CPUs for users.
  • It can allow options where Oracle Cloud storage container username password as never expired.

  • It can be a bit buggy at times, like randomly not letting you save or making you refresh the page or do the same action, and then it will save.
  • Bugs really are the main issue here. Otherwise it's great with reporting!

This builds off a number of things I have already mentioned. This question completely depends on the competence of the developer. This makes the user friendliness of the UI 50/50. However if you have the ability I would say it is quite UI friendly.

Salesforce's support is top-notch. They have subject-matter experts that are accessible at all times to address needs as they come up. They let you know in advance when there are system updates and enhancements so that you are prepared for upcoming changes. I've never had an issue that wasn't addressed immediately when reaching out for support.

Oracle Cloud Platform

If you already have considerable Oracle licenses, then Oracle Cloud Platform is the best option. If most of your applications and needs are Windows-based, then Microsoft Azure is the best choice. Google GCP is on par with Oracle Cloud Platform in various features, including global reach. Cisco Hybrid Cloud Platform is an excellent choice if you have some interesting network requirements for the application to be deployed.

Salesforce is the premeire product. Period. The others are cheaper and less capable, they may fulfill your organisation's needs but you will always be looking at Salesforce with wishful eyes. If you are a company that needs to bootstrap then spend the time to evaluate your options. If you are a growing company with plenty of funding it is best to provide your sales team with the best platform you can afford because switching out CRM's is second in complexity to swapping out an ERP.

  • I only used the trial version, but I liked the rich UI experience. It was easy to understand. I liked the fact that there are a lot of apps in the app store. A lot of brands use Oracle which leads to trust. It's also scalable.
  • As a consultant, this is something I can recommend to my customers over Amazon AWS Cloud because it has the built-in security that you don't have to buy separately.
  • Easy to integrate. My clients are looking for a one-stop ecosystem that can be used for everything including HR, Security, Analytics, Dashboards, and user experience. This saves me time as a consultant as well.

  • ROI - It allows us to handle billing and see if the client is being charged the correct amount so our books stay balanced.
  • Communication - It allows for all of our workers to see the notes of previous representatives so that no one is in the dark when re-engaging.
  • A negative would be that it is difficult to merge marketing initiatives, so unless someone uploads the Excel sheet of leads into the system (which is easier said than done) there could be duplications of effort.
