Dynatrace is used to monitor both our legacy applications and our PaaS platform microservices. It solves the problem of having complete visibility into the lifecycle of transactions.
  • Customizable
  • Lots of integrations
  • Slack Integration
  • Could be easier to define an entire application suite (frontend, backend microservices, database)
Dynatrace is very well suited to legacy architecture - in order to see what transaction flow looks like in order to break apart a monolith.

Dynatrace is currently being used at a department in my org. It helps us identifying slowness and overall application performance for the full stack. It helps identify the issue very quickly and reduce negative impacts on the website.
  • Root cause analysis
  • Problem detection
  • AWS Fargate
Dynatrace is very well suited for full stack implementation. It's less ideal for disconnected applications.

Dynatrace is used to measure and monitor our application performance and our customer's experience. Dynatrace helps us to identify issues in our environment and get to a root cause quickly. We rely on the Dynatrace AI to evaluate large amounts of data from our complex environment and provides good insight at a glance.
  • Root cause analysis with AI.
  • Ease of configuration with API's.
  • Support for legacy technologies that AppMon currently supports.
  • Better dashboarding capabilities.
When looking to implement large scale complex systems. Dynatrace OneAgent easily enables this without changing code. When starting something new there may be other solutions that are more cost-effective when you can consider APM as part of your initial design.

We currently use Dynatrace to monitor our front end and back end infrastructure as well as digital performance monitoring. We are rolling it out across the organization and helping to onboard departments within the company to use the tool. Dynatrace helps us to provide support to the other development teams in helping them identify the root cause of issues as well as alerting on performance issues so they can be resolved quickly. Dynatrace allows us to manage a large environment with a small team because the product is very robust.
  • The customer support is the best I've ever experienced. They actually listen and make changes as we recommend them.
  • The self-discovery abilities of the one agent allows mapping of the environment without manual effort.
  • Custom metrics pricing.
  • Using dem units on synthetic actions.
Dynatrace is well suited for managing large or small organizations with small teams.

Dynatrace supports operations at the moment. Recently we have been implementing RUM to help with troubleshooting of user sessions. Session replay and user information has been very helpful. We are trying to get started with log analytics and metrics. Dynatrace has made it easier to visualize operational status of internal and AWS infrastructure. It helped with the mobile app monitoring for user session performance troubleshooting. We are planning to get started with CI/CD automation and planning to use Dynatrace events to help with problem resolution and help desk supports.
  • Automated data collection and centralized configuration.
  • Visualizing the data is easy and powerful.
  • Dynatrace data and its abilities are not covered in depth enough in documentation.
  • Web UI is overwhelming as all the data can be reached in many different ways.
The server monitoring from operations is great. Automated performance monitoring and end to end performance capture and connecting them has been fantastic. Troubleshooting and alerting is very nice. UI is overwhelming for beginners that makes adoption difficult for developers and business users.

Dynatrace is being used mostly as an application performance management tool right now. We use the Appmon tool. We are implementing Dynatrace currently. It addresses our need to look into connections between apps and diagnose any issues that may arise between the communication thereof. It also helps us diagnose issues such as too much garbage collection occurring or not enough memory on hardware, etc.
  • Analysis of memory.
  • Analysis of user actions.
  • Can't use Windows servers for the main node.
  • When implementing custom metrics, I don't want all of them. I want to select the ones I want.
Dynatrace has been extremely helpful when it comes to diagnosing app issues. It has also been beneficial when it comes to diagnosing issues that end-users have with various applications. Lastly, Dynatrace has helped us architect environments to the appropriate size for our needs. Dynatrace is a great tool for application performance monitoring.

Dynatrace is being used by one vertical within the IT organization. The vertical includes manufacturing, This is a new expansion to most of the teams but we are rolling this out to more of our company as we prove it's value to the organization as a whole. Feedback has been very good so far!
  • Problem detection.
  • Real user monitoring.
  • Pricing is being outpaced by competitors.
  • Legacy system support (AS400 Support).
Our company really needed some type of solution for providing monitoring into the AS400. This is a system that no one seems to have visibility into so far. This would set Dynatrace apart from the rest even more. I really wish they would integrate with this staple of a platform in the manufacturing industry.

We are still rolling it out to all departments. We have currently about 800 servers under agent, a couple of hundred database servers, as well as making inroads into the cloud spaces.
  • Finding programming hacks.
  • First tool that spans the mainframe and is distributed.
  • Better documentation on use cases.
Dynatrace is well suited for CICS and MQ - it provides great insights.

Its main purpose for us is monitoring full-stack applications.
  • Easy to install.
  • Very scalable.
  • Session reply won't work for some 3rd party products.
  • Two factor authentication for synthetic testing is not working.
Dynatrace with a hybrid data center model works well for monitoring. Less critical applications and infra can be avoided and save licensing costs.

Dynatrace is our current APM tool. It is used by our load team, analysis team, and monitoring team. We currently have 100's of microservices running on a host and with OneAgent, we were able to monitor all processes with a single click. Our analysis team relies on problem detection and reporting.
  • Problem detection.
  • Service flows.
  • Robust dashboards.
  • Custom service metrics.
Dynatrace is well suited for multiple apps deployed on a host. It is also well suited for database servers with memory issues.

We are using Dynatrace to proactively detect issues, to definitively and quickly determine RCAs, and to drive system uptime.
  • IA-driven automatic baselining.
  • Log aggregation and analysis.
  • Some screens and navigation are non-intuitive, which adds to the learning curve.
  • The pricing structure is complex and makes it difficult to compare/justify with comparable offerings.
In a situation where you have a widespread technology footprint, don't do a ton of in-house coding, and want to get on top of your application environment quickly. OneAgent and the Davis AI really are game-changers if you're trying to do enterprise APM quickly, with a small team.

Dynatrace is currently being implemented and used throughout our organization to monitor our processes as well as our infrastructure. Dynatrace has enabled us to have tremendous insight into our work systems and process flows. Dynatrace provides amazing application insight.
  • Gives real-time stats on vital processes
  • Monitors infrastructure systems metrics with great detail
  • Allows many ways to customize the product to fir our needs
  • Some of the monitoring communications could be better
  • A few false positives on alerts
  • Sometimes slow interface response

We're utilizing Dynatrace for web and performance monitoring, both internally and externally. We utilize synthetic monitoring for various sites to monitor and alert on availability of user experienced actions, and also utilize standard HTTP monitoring for site uptime for a large number of internal and external websites that my team is responsible for supporting.
  • Drill-down metrics
  • Easy to use interface
  • Requires training to successfully utilize
Dynatrace is well suited for Information Technology teams that are required to support/monitor the uptime and performance of internal/external web applications. We're planning on utilizing Dynatrace (along with other tools) when we expand our monitoring capabilities later this year to build out an Enterprise Command Center, which will allow visibility to multiple teams.

  • Helped the operations team find issues.
  • Sends alerts on time.
  • Being proactive in monitoring and catching up.
  • I can not think of suggestions for improvement at this time.
It has helped with long term issues that have been bothering the operations team for some time. Once we started monitoring with Dynatrace we found the root cause in a very short time.
