An excellent network diagramming tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am using Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to create network diagrams. It's a simple need but surprising how difficult it can be to find a program - free or paid to do this. We are a small organization and the network diagrams are not complicated. But we definitely need them. I had looked at a few programs before I found Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite. My needs were for a program that allowed me to create these diagrams quickly and simply. Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite was the most intuitive program I've found. It's great IMHO.

Pros

  • It's simple and intuitive to use. I rarely had to consult the documentation.
  • It includes templates, several in fact, and help you get started quickly. No need to reinvent the wheel if someone has already created it.
  • Without a lot of effort you can use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to create great looking documents.

Cons

  • It was hard figuring out how to change the paper size.
  • I never did figure out how to modify some template objects e.g. change color.
  • I ended up having to purchase the full package to get all the templates I needed. But it was minimal.

Return on Investment

  • I have needed to create/update my network diagrams. I have been with the company for 18 years. A lot can happen in that time.
  • I just can't afford to spend time on documentation. I'm too busy taking care of my customers.

A Review on Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to prepare my club mapping documents while collaborating with my peers. Using Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite, I and my team collaborate in sessions to discuss and brainstorm the situations and scenarios to finalise the work and development document. all our ideas and discussions were done under a single platform

Pros

  • Documents are prepared using by collaborating with me peers.
  • Doing brainstorming is pretty simple with a team.
  • All the details are kept under one workspace, which is easy to access & have an idea about.

Cons

  • The UI of the Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite can be improved
  • The administration has a limitation, which is a drawback.
  • It lags sometimes or becomes dead slow suddenly.

Return on Investment

  • Time is saved
  • The clear outcomes on what need to be done
  • Productivity is good than expected.

Review on Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

To make workflows of the teams. How teams operate and their functioning. If we want to collaborate between teams, it becomes very difficult to explain everyone or each team how other teams operate. So we create a workflow between teams for collaboration. I had requested a Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite from a team i wanted to understand the working of. So they made me a workflow on Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite. It was so easy to understand then.

Pros

  • Workflow
  • Flow Diagrams

Cons

  • Colours
  • Tooltips to help understand how to operate
  • AI integration for automated workflows building on prompt

Return on Investment

  • Improve Productivity
  • Helped understanding data flows
  • Saved times and repeated contacting the other teams for understanding the flow

Lucidchart Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

For my department, we are primarily using Lucidchart as a process visualization tool. Wwe use it to document workflows, department, SOPs, handoffs, so that we have something we can give people rather than just a verbal training or a text document, so something visual they can look at.

Pros

  • We had been Visio users for a long time as a lot of companies with the Microsoft Suite are. I think Lucidchart for us is a more accessible version of that kind of process visualization. It's easier for untrained and unskilled users to just get in and start building something. And so for us, that means that we can kind of push the documentation requirements out to a broader range of people because it's easier to use. People understand, it's intuitive, and they can start documenting what their departments do and create lasting documentation that persistent the company.

Cons

  • Honestly, nothing jumps out. If I had to give a room for improvement off the top of my head, I think it's probably the internal search feature. When you're trying to figure out what shape you want or pull in a customized visualization object like a swim lane or something to that effect, you kind of have to know what that's called. And for some of our users that are new and don't necessarily know the terminology, it's hard for them to find the thing that they're looking for.

Return on Investment

  • I don't know that we measure it that way. For us, it's more about the persistence of company knowledge, particularly as you go through organizational change, as people come and go, as your leadership changes or strategy changes, do you know what people were doing last year? Do you know if you hire somebody new, how you should be training them? And if you have this suite of documents that past team members have made, it's much easier to onboard, which means you can move faster, right? And you need to change direction.

Usability

A lightweight, simple but powerful handy tool in your everyday work

Pros

  • Light-weight
  • Simple interface, easy to learn and use
  • Collaborate and share easily
  • Flexible and powerful to develop the diagrams

Cons

  • Haven't see the need for improvement yet

Return on Investment

  • Improved productivity
  • Improved collaborations
