Trello for all your project management needs
- Collaboration - Trello makes it very easy to track what everyone is doing, has gotten done, and still has to get done. Everything for everyone is displayed clearly in the same place.
- Customization - Trello offers plenty of flexibility when it comes to customizing the dashboard to fit the team's needs. All sorts of colors, shapes, icons, tags, labels, and different list types are available
- Filters - When it comes to searching, there's plenty of available filters that use the labels and tags that you can use to help speed up your searches within your dashboard.
- Kanban boards - Not that there's anything wrong with Kanban boards, but Trello is limited to them, whereas other alternatives offer different views you can use.
- No calendar support - Trello doesn't natively offer support for calendar integration, while other options do.
- Limited to simple descriptions - If you're hoping to write detailed documents on your board for your different tasks, Trello may not be the best option as you're limited to shorter descriptions.
Trello is great at what it does
- Kanban board
- Open source
- Easy to learn and use
- Some of the plug ins are difficult to manage
- As the teams grow Trello becomes harder to manage
- Better with small teams
Without a doubt the best to-do manager we have ever seen
- Task management: you can assign tasks to teams or to someone in particular
- You can, with some workaround, create a full Kanban system
- It is a bit difficult to use in the first tries. A lot of colors, a lot of boards, a lot of projects... But you can and will get used to it easily.
Trello - Limit WIP for Success!
- Flexibility of Cards - can add links, pictures, attachments, etc.
- Built in sharing enables multiple users to collaborate on a board at a time.
- Customizable - it's very easy for me to customize the look and format of my cards to make it easy to identify work that needs to get done.
- Aging - Trello offers an aging functionality that lets you identify old cards, but it's not granular enough to be useful. In short order, old cards all look old.
- Color coding - Trello offers color coding, but not enough unique colors to make many labels of distinct colors.
- Export - Trello does offer export, but not in a user-friendly format. I'd like a CSV export so I can easily manipulate my card data from time to time.
Open Source Collaboration Software
- Nice Design
- Kanban Board - Helps to monitor project activities
- Very straight forward and easy to learn.
- UI Design can be improved a little more.
- Chat feature for real-time support
- Artificial Intelligence could be integrated.
A must-have tool for every team
- Colorful boards and cards. Easy on the eyes. You get the whole picture all the time.
- Countless integrations to external apps like Notion, Slack, Calendar, and Bitbucket provides productive experiences.
- Easy to manage and user-friendly. Offline kanban management can be done online without any product training.
- Having a note-taking feature would help teams to manage observations.
Trello, a great tool for either personal or team work
- One can easily assign tasks to team members.
- Very complete free version of a project management tool.
- You can store information in cards, like files and short format text.
- Assign priority to certain cards (easy for sorting).
- Difficult to work with multiple cards or tasks in the user interface, like for moving, copy/paste, etc.
- Allow tables as content for comment or description in cards.
What about Trello?
- Good board overview with plenty of options for customization.
- Easy edit with context menus and drag-and-drop actions.
- Don't know one yet. :)
The Best Free Project Management Tool Out There
- Powerful free version
- Multiple users and can save lots of data (appears to be unlimited storage)
- Very user-friendly UI
- Reporting capabilities within Trello are lacking
- Trello doesn't offer a ton of customization or have various widgets quite as intuitive as monday.com
- There have been times where users have issues with Trello loading for them
Excellent product for small scale project management
- Project Management is done in a very easy and simple way.
- Trello helps to collaborate with teams when working on the same projects.
- The best thing is that there is an option to attach files.
- Trello has a professional appeal which gives a sense of accomplishment as when tasks are completed within deadlines.
- Moving cards from one list to another list to update the completion of the task helps my organization to track the progress of the tasks under any project.
- The search is not good. It's really hard if we have to search in subcategories.
- User interface needs to be worked upon.
- There should be a notification feature which is missing so that we can get notified on desktop/app instead of visiting to see updates.
Sometimes, images are uploaded with low quality. Tagging is a bit difficult if we have lots of things to tag since there are limited tag colors.
- I like the card style design of Trello and it is very intuitive. It's visually appealing and there is a satisfying feeling to moving a card from one list to another. Other to-do apps and project management tools have adopted this feature but Trello still does it best. If there is a single feature that I would say Trello does well, it is the cards feature. The visual appeal may not be to everyone's liking but the technique of the cards is very pivotal to what Trello does.
- The PowerUps make Trello more useful. I like to use the card repeater power up for example, because I don't have to recreate tasks that may recur several times. In my opinion, this implementation of add ons has increased my usage of Trello and made me appreciate it even more.
- Trello's free version has a bit of functionality, it makes it hard to see why one would want to upgrade. Any tool that can do project management well and is mostly free is worth the price.
- Email notifications in Trello are helpful and not entirely overwhelming. They help to know when someone you may be collaborating with has commented on a card or task item.
- Trello does things well but I feel in some ways the tool is neglected. The limited number of PowerUps is a sign of this, and I wish there were more PowerUps.
- The process of setting up Trello can be overwhelming especially if you have not entirely bought into the kanban GTD methodology.
For Personal and Small Team Kanban (w/out Swimlanes)
- UI - Trello is intuitive and easy to set up.
- Customization - You can change your background color, create as many lists as you want, as many boards as you want, color code, add details, etc.
- Collaboration - It is super easy to invite others to share a board or assign them tasks. In my volunteer work, we share a board and assign one another tasks. In my last company, I created a list per team member for them to move work into when they picked up the assignment.
- Ease of Access - I prefer the web app but the phone is easy to use too
- Swim Lanes - they are nonexistent. There is a third-party tool to add them but it's buggy as all get out
- View - I am not sure how to do it but I really wish I didn't have to pick between viewing all cards with no detail or one with all detail. Maybe the ability to collapse and expand?
- Integrations - It would be amazing if I could easily pop action items from Gmail over to Trello, but right now I can only copy text or upload screenshot attachments.
Kanban workflows made personal and fun
- Trello is extremely easy to use. You can create a board and get up and running in minutes. It's very easy to add new users, share permissions, create and edit cards, etc.
- Trello has a fun brand personality and UI. It sounds silly, but I loved being able to set different photographs as backgrounds -- always made me smile. Their documentation and emails are cute and easy to read.
- Trello is a great value price-wise and offers a very good free membership.
- Trello doesn't have all of the functionality of some other competitors. For example, you can't create "swim lanes" that highlight specific issues at the top of each column, or create multiple statuses within a single column.
- Trello is fantastic for simple views but can appear overwhelming once you add many cards with many fields. I could get around this by filtering to only see cards assigned to myself, but it was hard to otherwise pick out my cards at a glance.
- Trello only offers one kanban view. You can filter this view, but it would be great if there were multiple views that let you reorganize and view your cards in different ways.
Trello is great for individual projects, allowing you to compartmentalize all of your tasks and literally watch your cards cross the finish line into the last column. Issues only start to arise when you're using Trello along with multiple other teams as a collaboration tool.
The best app for task management and note taking
- It is great for moving small tasks and allowing people to keep track of them even after handing it off to another person or team.
- It supports a lot of different development project management styles with point systems and other functionality.
- The backgrounds and other customizations keep things light and fun.
- It is not as good at managing large and especially long-term projects.
- It doesn't allow you to produce whole documents and collaborate on them.
- It doesn't have a built-in calendar function.
Trello : Great collaboration tool for teams
We are using Trello for the following things:
1. Create boards and cards according to the project.
2. We create a card for every small task that needs to be done.
3. The ability to add labels and assign cards makes it easier to know the stage the task is in and the person responsible to complete it.
4. Boards can be set as public or private. It's great to display a public roadmap for a product.
5. We use Trello to manage tasks within our organization. It is a great tool when you have many people working on something.
6. It can also be used to manage one's to-do list.
7. We also have a few public boards that we share with our users and use to display a roadmap for our products.
- Tool to organize and manage tasks: We can create lists, activities, upload documents, and share them with our colleagues. It is very easy to use and I have not only used it for my company but also for personal use, as it also allows me to have multiple projects on the same board.
- Flexibility and Ease of use: I love how simplistic and visual Trello is. Instead of having to mentally keep track of tasks or flow or keep track via email, I can organize all the information about a project in a visually appealing and intuitive way. Checklists are the key part of this tool.
- Prompt Notification Service: the fact that you can follow a card and be notified when a team member completes a task without actually being tagged is amazing. It sends emails that are easy to digest about the new changes.
- It doesn't have a feature to make a task repeat. The user needs to keep on adding the task if the task needs to be done frequently.
- Integrated support for media playback (audio, video) would be very welcome -- i.e. when referencing a media file, it would be nice if it could provide player functionality right within the Trello card, rather than merely linking to the content.
- More customization options are needed.
To organize tasks at a small level team, Trello works efficiently. But it will have issues for large team management.
Easy and fun to use task manager
- Trello has an intuitive interface for organizing boards and tasks. The kanban-style layout of the boards is simple and logical - categories are arranged left to right, tasks are arranged from top to bottom. It only takes seconds to understand the goals of the interface with minimal experience needed.
- The interactions within Trello feel natural and are consistent with what you would expect - double clicking to edit, drag and drop to move, etc. The interactions aid, rather than inhibit, my usage of Trello.
- Theming - Trello allows users to theme their accounts/boards. When using multiple boards, it is awesome to not only customize the board to look and feel they way you want it to, but it also allows me to know exactly which board I am viewing at a glance.
- Some of the deeply nested actions are a little hard to get at, and not organized in the most logical way. A specific example of this is deleting a task - it is first set to "Archived", which forces the user to click again to "Delete". This process seems a bit verbose for such a simple task.
- Icons are a bit overused in the interface, making some of the actions they represent a little obscure. The most glaring example of this is the large "+" at the top right of the interface. What am I adding? a Board? a Card? a Task? I like interfaces that allow for discovery, but something as simple as 'adding' anything should be immediately clear.
- As well as Trello handles the kanban-view, I would love to see other styles of views for my cards and tasks. I am not exactly sure how other views would be accomplished, but I would love to see list views, calendar views, and even 'joined' views, where cards can have linked dependencies.
