Overall Satisfaction with Raiser's Edge NXT

NXT is being used primarily by the stewardship office (fundraising), comprising approximately 8 full-time employees. 4-5 use it on a daily basis, the rest on a weekly basis at least. Since transferring to RENXT for most day-to-day operations our fundraisers are able to quickly get information about donors. On a productivity note, I'm able to process gifts even when I'm in a doctor's waiting room or off-site very easily.
  • Processing gifts with forms is very easy most of the time.
  • The system of automatically processing credit cards and direct debit transactions is a lifesaver!
  • Access to records from a phone is amazing!
  • Without it being a fully functioning system as of 4/15/2021 there are a few drawbacks.
  • The web-based view is nice but feels like it takes longer to search records and open them.
  • The different nomenclature can get confusing for old school fundraisers, especially those who have used the RE Database.
  • Inability to remove duplicate records completely/delete records.
  • Forms will duplicate records at a higher level than those who work in Online Express currently
  • It is, pound for pound, the second most useful database I've used for data reporting (the RE Database still wins). Good data is essential to our industry.

Raiser's Edge, Basecamp, Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)
Raiser's Edge NXT is pretty intuitive for most fundraiser users. However, as the database administrator and chief report creator, it does leave something to be desired in its current stage (on 4/15/2021). The usability has increased dramatically over the last three years and if it keeps on pace with that improvement, I imagine it will be one of the most usable programs available soon.
Right now, most of the issues that we've experienced have had the response of, to paraphrase, "oh, Raiser's Edge NXT doesn't do that" or "it's designed to work that way," obviously neither of those answers are helpful. The support team is readily available and for those issues that do have solutions and are within the bounds of what Raiser's Edge NXT is currently able to do has been helpful. Still some growing pains, basically.
I can only truly recommend this to a non-profit that has a larger financial budget. It is not for those that depend on fundraising to make it through. For organizations that can afford it, the system is good.

The largest criticism I have is that they have just tacked on a fee, mid-contract, in order to use their gift processing tools, even if you don't use them. This is a breach of trust in the system, I feel that it's a breach of contract, and many users are way more unhappy than I am. So, hopefully, this is not a common occurrence because for all the good they do, they are no longer the only good system in play any more.
