Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
Our whole organization uses EC2 in a sense that all of our data and all of our clients' backups are stored there. We can address the problem of availability and scalability, putting both us and our customers at ease. They can know their data is safe and always available to them regardless of conditions
- Scales up and down with ease!
- Cost effective and easy to understand billing/cost analysis
- Many many tools and documentation available for use. Always expanding and changing landscape
- Can be very difficult to get an initial grasp of how things work at EC2 due to proprietary terms and technologies
- The sign-in page has changed a few times, and with its most recent update can be confusing to some
- Billing section can be hard to find at times, but the search function really comes through when looking for features
- Positive Impact - ROI increased since switching backup solutions to our own hosted on EC2. We were paying a 3rd party subscription for their backup software and storage space. Now we have purchased a perpetual license for backup software, re-branded it as ours and have saved month-over-month on costs.
- Positive Impact - No need for customer support because everything inside of EC2 is self serve. A great learning experience and can work at your own pace to implement/troubleshoot.
- Negative Impact - Time to inception was a little slower than we'd like. Learning curve for Amazon's products and how to use them.
EC2 is far broader than Microsoft's Azure cloud and offers separation from Microsoft if needed. The product features paired with usability and notoriety are far superior to Microsoft's. I wish I could state the same regarding other Cloud Solutions but we have not explored many
