Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)
Instead of having our database servers in house, we decided to use the cloud for managing the servers. Our costs have come down with this and it's so easy to spin up a new database instance. Besides this, as we use several AWS technology we can control it with other services such as CloudWatch or Lambda.
- Easy to use.
- Not expensive.
- Flexible.
- Parameter groups are sometimes confusing at the moment of editing.
- Just supports certain amount of databases.
- Positive impact.
- Billing is controlled for about 30 databases we used.
We try to use Azure Databases, but we encountered issues of combining services between AWS and Azure, so this is the main reason we decided to move with Amazon RDS. I can say that between services they're quite alike but it all depends what cloud provider you use for the other services.
