Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare
Cloudflare is a complex product offering, but for us it primarily addresses a whole bunch of security issues (WAF, DDoS protection, bot protection, endpoint protection etc) as well as web asset delivery (CDN) and the ability to knit together complicated systems, often with legacy components.
- DNS
- WAF
- DDoS protection
- CDN
- HTTP traffic transmogrification on the fly
- Their UI is notable for simplicity but has room for improvement indeed, both in UX and especially for cohesiveness across feature sets
- It would be nice to have better linkage between some of the more complex things in the UI and the documentation
- Documentation can always be improved
- Cloudflare provides essential protection from DDoS and bot attacks that would otherwise lead to extended outages resulting in significant losses
- Properly implemented, Cloudflare-powered web caching provides reliable savings in data traffic, when not only saves money, but also reduces latency to end customer
I wasn't around for the onboarding, but from what interactions I have had with Cloudflare support, I'm happy enough. It is probably somewhat harder to get efficient support if you do not have an enterprise grade customer success package. That being said, on the technical level their documentation and processes are very good and enable very efficient self-service and the ability to get going quickly.
