Overall Satisfaction with Conductor Searchlight

It is primarily used by strategists and local SEO champions to help them identify keywords associated with news topics. Due to the steep learning curve and cost, it is not suitable for a more broad deployment.

Pros

  • Suggest related keyword phrases.
  • Detail actual monthly search volume which Google Trends does not do.
  • Track keywords to help us understand our competitive position.

Cons

  • The site is heavy on jargon. Could it be designed to help answer questions?
  • The learning curve is steep. Training is good but requires a lot of time. What if there was a basic, user-defined starting dashboard that helped answer most common questions?
  • It has helped us refine our keyword targeting. The results are TBD as new strategies are in play.
Conductor has provided top-notch support.

It's good for sophisticated SEO strategy development and tracking. It's not suitable for use in day-to-day work.

Using Conductor Searchlight

You have a lot of data and that certainly presents a challenge. However, I recommend some consulting on the UX so that the path to answers is more clear.

    Bill - thank you for taking time to share your experience. I'm glad that we have been able to help your team with your keyword strategy and that our Customer Success team is providing a good experience. Overall, it looks like the UX has been a challenge. Great technology is easy to use, so we take that feedback very seriously. We have released a few enhancements recently primarily focused on UX such as Workspace enhancements, Insight Stream, and simplified kw editing. We have more to do here, though, and will constantly be improving to make it easier to get what you need.
